Vehicle Detail
The good: Just under 57,000 miles. Original owner, extremely well maintained. Synthetic oil in everything front to back from the first scheduled maintenance on. Factory stereo (AM/FM/ cassette) with handle bar mounted controls for station selection and volume up/down. ABS Brakes. Factory heated handgrips. Lockable GiVi 3rd bag/backrest. Well cared for. The pictures speak for themselves. There are a few minor flaws in the paint. (A stone chip here or there) More pictures upon request. The Bad: A couple of years ago I had an issue where the bike would get stuck in neutral (when sitting at a stop light). I took the bike to the local BMW dealer and they completely went through the transmission. The next spring, when I got the bike back the transmission seemed “tight” (like when it was new) and I was told that it would once again “break in”. They were correct but a few months later I found that the neutral issue was gone but now I had a different problem. Every once in a while (sometimes 500 miles between episodes) the transmission will not shift up. Sometimes it’s between 3rd and fourth sometimes between 4th and 5th. When this happens you have to either double clutch or shift back down and then go back up. Along with this ( I believe related) is the neutral light. Sometimes when you put the bike into neutral the green light doesnt come on. There is LCD gear indicator that tells you that you're in neutral but the green light isnt on. If you leave the bike idle for a few seconds the green light eventually comes on. Both definite flaws but since it’s not repeatable I have gotten no satisfaction from the dealer. The only option I have is to start from scratch again with them and at this time my relationship with this dealership is so stressed that I refuse to give them another dime. Opening Bid: Since the problem is so unpredictable It would have been easy to conceal this flaw. It could be months before the new owner would have experienced the problem for the first time. Rather than be dishonest I decided that to be fair I would take the NADA “low” retail value $3500.00 and subtract the amount I paid my local BMW dealer to completely go through it. ($2000.00). I’ve set the bidding to start at $1500 so that if you think you have a “reputable dealer” you could have a BMW at NADA value with a fresh transmission. Shipping Buyer responsible for vehicle pick-up.
