Vehicle Detail
Up for auction from my collection is my 1972 Honda CB750 Four K2. I purchased this CB750 some time ago with the intent of doing a complete and show quality restoration. I targeted this particular CB750 because I felt it would be a good restoration candidate. I felt it would be an excellent starting point to do a complete and show quality restoration with. The frame number appearing on this CB750 is CB750-2002553 and the engine number is CB750E-2010132 making this a numbers matching correct original motorcycle. The odometer currently reads 19,101 miles which I believe are original and correct. The build date on the vin tag reads 12/71. I now realize I do not have the time to do all the restorations I had originally planned on or time to give this CB750 the attention it really deserves so I have decided to let it go to a new owner. I am convinced the new owner will have an excellent starting point for a show quality restoration or could have a nice early CB750 by doing a light frame on restoration and by installing the missing parts. Mechanically, this CB750 did run when parked some time ago. The engine turns over smoothly with good compression. As you can see from the pictures, it will need some parts but if you can envision this CB750 with side covers and an air box installed you will see a very complete and deserving restoration candidate. Since it has been parked for so long, the new owner will no doubt need to perform some general maintenance if the bike is to be used as is without a restoration and at a minimum it will need all general maintenance and inspections performed. I believe this would be an excellent candidate for a restoration as it is very original and complete and in overall original condition. The carburetors are the correct originals. When purchasing this CB750, I did feel that the engine was very sound and would need only inspection and would most likely not need to be rebuilt during the restoration. As you know, these CB750’s are very durable. Cosmetically, this CB750 shows some patina and the fuel tank does have some chips and dings/dents but is a restorable and usable fuel tank. The fuel tank is solid and would be an excellent fuel tank to repaint to show quality with some body work. The seat is the correct original and is in overall very nice original condition and could be used as is on a driver or a restored motorcycle. The original exhaust pipes are also presentable and were another reason that I target this particular CB750. They appear to be overall very solid and in presentable condition-they do have some dents and dings but do not appear to be rusty. They could be used as is. The chrome on the rest of the CB750 is presentable and all the components could be used as is or re-chromed including the front and rear rims and the front and rear chrome fenders. Some of the chrome does have some pitting from age mostly on the front rim. The gauges are also originals. The original turn signals are also present. The original front and rear chrome fenders are in very nice condition along with the chrome fork ears and headlight bucket. Electrical components including handlebar switches appear to be present and the handlebars appear to be original and straight. The CB750 models have always been a favorite of mine but unfortunately I do not have time to enjoy all the Japanese motorcycles I have accumulated over the years so it is time to let a few go and let you enjoy them as I have. I had originally planned to do a complete show quality restoration on this CB750 at some point as this is a very deserving candidate. I am convinced the new owner will have an outstanding starting point to do a complete or show quality restoration with or do some general maintanence and restoring on this particular example and enjoy it. I also of course have a clear title in my name for this CB750. Regarding Payment and Shipping, I will accept a wire transfer or a certified check for the CB750.
