Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is my 1972 Suzuki T500 Titan. I acquired this T500 sometime ago as I felt it was an overall original example that would be the perfect starting point for a complete, show quality restoration and could be used as a nice original in the meantime. Unfortunately, with so many motorcycles in my collection, I now realize I am never going to have the time to give this T500 the attention it deserves. The frame number appearing on this Titan is T500-54807 and the engine number appearing on this Titan is T500-54807 making this a numbers matching, correct original example. The speedometer currently reads 14,294 miles which I believe to be correct. The build date on the steering neck reads 12/71. I am convinced the new owner of this Titan is going to have an outstanding starting point for a restoration or could enjoy this Titan in its more original condition as a nice daily driver. I would also like to mention that this Titan should not be confused with other examples offered by unreliable and amateur sellers who have limited knowledge about these classic Japanese motorcycles. Cosmetically, this T500 is mostly original and the fuel tank does show some patina and does have a few chips but is overall a very, very nice fuel tank that is very presentable as is. The front fork boots have cracked from age and are original. The side cover is present as well as the oil tank and they still sport the classic chrome 500 side cover inlays and emblems. The side cover was replaced or repainted at some point as you can see the original orange paint underneath. The original seat shows very nicely and features the original Suzuki cover in overall very nice condition with the fabric still being soft and pliable. The original front and rear fenders are present with no visible damage and show very nicely. The original chrome chain guard is also mounted in the correct location and is a very nice original as well as the original rear grab bar. The correct rear shocks and air box /intake assembly are also mounted in their correct orientations. The original headlight bucket as well as correct headlight bulb and fork ears are also present and in nice usable original conditions. Correct front and rear turn signals as well as the original tail light are also a nice feature of this T500. All the electrical components including gauge lights, signals and horn also are present. The original handlebars appear to be straight with very nice original chrome and feature the correct and original handlebar switches as well as the correct hand grips. Factory original Suzuki ā€œSā€ mirrors also are still mounted to the handlebars and are very difficult to find. The correct gauges are also mounted and in very nice overall condition and show minimal fade with all colors still very crisp and vibrant. The plastic gauge housings are also in overall excellent condition as well as the plastic gauge lenses. The exhaust pipes on this T500 are in overall very, very nice condition. It would be difficult to find an original and solid set of T500 pipes like these and this is one of the main reasons I targeted this particular example. The exhaust set on this T500 are solid with no major dents or visible damage. They also do not appear to have any visible scrapes or other damage and also feature good, original factory chrome. These nice and very difficult to find original pipes could be cleaned up and used as is or could easily be re-chromed to show quality with minimal effort because of their nice condition. The pipes also have the factory correct baffles installed as well. Mechanically, this T500 has been stored for about 10 years and the tank and carburetors were drained prior to storage. When we removed this T500 from storage, we installed a battery and it immediately fired up and was running very strong after a few kicks. Although is currently appears to run very strongly and also ran strong when parked years ago, I would recommend some general maintenance as you would perform on any motorcycle old or new as recommended by Suzuki. It also still sports nice period correct tires in nice condition that add to the nostalgic appeal of this classic. The rims and spokes are original and very clean as well. It is also worth mentioning that the engine and engine areas are also generally clean, maintained and in correct order. Overall, this is a mostly original and a very nice example of a 1972 Suzuki T500. I feel this would be the perfect example to enjoy as an original/very nice driver or would be an outstanding starting point for a restoration as most all of the key parts are present and in very nice original condition. This would be a great T500 to enjoy this summer as well. I also of course have a clear title as well as original Suzuki keys for this very nice T500.
