Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is my 1970 911t ... I've had great fun sorting and improving this car ... it's originally a 1970 911T in Sepia Brown I believe - it's now equipped with a built 1972 2.4 liter mechanically fuel injected engine, S cams and a HPVI coil pack instead of a distributor ... it has a fiberglass rear deck lid with a duck tail and a fiberglass front S valance ... I replaced the steering wheel with a period correct Porsche wheel ... it has BMW sport seats with a four point harness on the drivers seats only ... I couldn't break it off for correct seats when the square back BMW seats looked so good and afforded way more bolster support... it has RS door panels , centered Pea shooter muffler, newish tires and brushed Fuchs... calipers painted yellow, battery kill switch and connect port on left front ... So it's a bastard that kinda wants to be an 73 RS clone ... it kinda wants to be an S clone ... and it retains much of it's original T parts ... I've got about 15 cars in my collection and I try to query whoever stops by as to their favorite and this little guy gets more than it's fair share of votes ... it's not the nicest car in the collection by far but it stirs many folks ... I put my E-type in the foreground on a few pics - it's Azure Blue and might help by some of you who haven't seen Mexico Blue in person judge the color ... it's a color that's polarizing with most loving it and few feeling neutral ... the paint is driver quality ... nice but with it's share of chips and flaws ... the interior is also nice but not all correct and sort of what I would call high driver quality ... the clutch works well ... the brakes work well, the 915 gearbox works, well, like a 915 box typically does ... you gotta shift slowly from 1-2, you should rev match on downshifts and the throw is pretty long and vague ... all part if the charm I guess ,,, for me it's functional and typical but not a G50 or fresh rebuild ... the engine runs well .. it's considerably more bhp than a stock 2.2 T engine... yes it leaks some oil ... mostly through return tubes (easy R&R, I should have done it last time I changed the oil ) ... the HPV1 set-up is cool and functional in that you can set timing at different rpms with simple dials on the unit ... So in summary, at a time when stock correct early 911s are regularly selling for record amounts this car represents an opportunity to get into and enjoy the heck out of what IMHO is a better looking and faster car ... reserve is low but not silly ... the car is a solid driver that you should assume will continue to benefit from further sorting and restoration or periodic repair ... I will help with shipping logistics, I do have the car on Craigslist locally and could sell through that medium ... ask your spouse and have your money in order before bidding ... call or write and talk to me ... good luck ...Phil 410 963-0547
