Vehicle Detail
Description This is a matching numbers 1979 Triumph Bonneville T140D that has been completely restored in 2011/12 to a high standard by a qualified engineer with some sensible upgrades and improvements .Braided brake hoses, Grimeca rear brake caliper, Stainless Steel Brake Master Cylinders. Drilled discs for better heat dispersion. Numerous Stainless steel fittings. Free flowing reverse cone muffler. Smaller rear sprocket 43T for highway cruising. All parts that required replacement were sourced from Europe and US. These included items such as special OEM exhaust system ,Grab rail, Chain guard etc. Frame powder coated. Top end barrels /jugs removed and inspected all seals and gaskets replaced . Carbs, clutch, wheels, brakes, transmission, forks ,swing arm, all refurbished. Rewired. The bottom end is sound and there is no big end or main bearing wear. New stainless exhaust inlet collets and the cylinder head was sent to a local specialist machine shop to ensure threads were a match for correct assembly. History This motorcycle was offered for sale in October 2010. It had been stood in a dry barn outside Dallas for over 20 years after the original owner had suffered health problems. Whilst off the road the gentleman had the complete top end refurbished. New valves, guides, pistons and rings fitted. Once rescued (cost $1300) it was decided to get the Triumph running and roadworthy , a further $1400 was invested. New parts include primary chain, fork tubes, tubeless tires, boyer bransden electronic ignition, brake caliper, cables etc(receipts for $800)The Triumph was recommissioned by a enthusiastic novice. I obtained the motorcycle for $2200 with the intention of carrying out a light restoration and riding many miles. This is the second T140D I have owned and I had intended to keep this Triumph forever. Having rode the Triumph around my local neighborhood I parked it up and decided the old girl deserved a full restoration as she was a little rough round the edges. Then began a full restoration over a 12 month period and over $3800 (all receipts) was spent on parts etc. Detailed cost spreadsheet available upon request. I can send a zip file of all the photos that were taken of this motorcycle from rescue (picture # 1) to running (pictures # 2 thro 32) then strip down # 33-52. Rebuild and Renovation # 53-125. There is over $8000 invested in this motorcycle and many man hours. My loss is your gain. Ride it or add to your collection. Sensible reserve set. Good luck. Everything works . First or second kick starter. Faults - right side air filter/side Bonneville Special cover has hairline paint crack behind frame tube (see photo)that is barely visible and seat barrel lock is missing (fell out on shakedown ride). Seat cover is worn and there is one small 1/8” long tear on nearside vertical side near front that is almost invisible to see. The wear adds patina to the motorcycle. Please remember this motorcycle is 34 years old. No guarantees or warranty implied. Sold as is. Good luck. Many thanks for your interest. I will assist overseas buyers with shipping at your cost.Note that vehicle will be available for collection after 8th August as I will be out of town 24th July through the 7 August. Motorcycle can be stored for up to 3 weeks
