I HAVE HEARD QUITE A FEW STORIES OVER THE YEARS OF HONDA HIRING A RETIRED OR EX-EMPLOYEE ENGINEERING GENIOUS TO REDESIGN THE PROBLEM STRICKEN CHAIN DRIVEN CAM SYSTEM ON PREVIOUS MODELS. THIS GEAR DRIVEN CAM SYSTEM IS WHAT EVOLVED. MORE HP, SMOOTHER POWER, AND UNSURPASSED RELIABILITY/LONGEVITY. A FEW SPIDER CRACKS(NEAR FASTENERS) ON UPPER FAIRING, NICKS, SCRATCHES, TOUCH UPS HERE AND THERE. A FEW CRACK REPAIRS MANY YEARS AGO ON INSIDE OF LEFT SIDE PANEL AND INSIDE UPPER FAIRING. THEY ARE NOT/BARELY VISIBLE FROM THE OUTSIDE, YOU HAVE TO TAKE THE PANEL/COVER OFF TO SEE THE REPAIRS. THE LEFT INSIDE BLACK PLASTIC AIR SHIELD JUST INSIDE THE UPPER FAIRING IS CRACKED/BROKEN AT ONE OF THE MOUNTING SCREWS(VERY COMMON ON THESE BIKES) BUT IT IS COVERED BY A HOMEADE RUBBER WASHER AND NOT VISIBLE. THERE IS ONE VERY SLIGHT FINGER IMPRESSION ON THE LEFT TOP OF THE TANK. IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO SEE AND PROBABLY WON'T SHOW UP IN EVEN A CLOSE-UP PHOTO BUT I WILL TRY MY BEST ON THURS/FRI TO ADD THESE CLOSE-UP SHOTS. THE BIKE IS NOT COSMETICALLY PERFECT BUT IT'S CLOSE. IF YOU ARE KNOWLEDGABLE IN MINOR PLASTIC REPAIR/PAINT IT WOULD NOT TAKE MUCH TO BRING THIS BIKE BACK TO SHOWROOM CONDITION. VERY WELL MAINTAINED/CARED FOR. YOU WOULD BE HARD PRESSED TO FIND A CLEANER ONE IN BETTER MECHANICAL CONDITION. I NOTICED A FEW OF THE STICK-ON WHEEL BALANCING WEIGHTS FROM 2002 RECENTLY CAME OFF SO THE WHEELS MAY NEED TO BE REBALANCED(I HAVE THE TINY WEIGHTS). I am assuming the fork seals need replacing as they are original and old. I remember them leaking a while back when it came out of storage so I added oil and then it seemed to stop. I am going to assume they need replacing so I AM INCLUDING NEW FORK SEALS AND NEW PROGRESSIVE FORK SPRINGS. To be shipped directly to the new owner. Progressive fork springs are a huge improvement over the stock 1986 VFR springs and highly recommended for this bike. The stock springs are inadequate for the power and braking on this bike. Absolutely mandatory for track use. On Jul-19-13 at 17:38:35 PDT, seller added the following information: New photos added 7/19. Please note the 2 plastic repairs; rubber washer covering repaired broken mounting hole on black plastic air shield inside upper fairing; cracks around upper, right fairing fasteners; misc. touch-ups; Solo Seat Cover; etc... The repair inside the upper left fairing is covered by the black plastic air shield on the inside and a new "Gear Driven Cam V4 sticker on the outside. I believe it is a factory sticker but wasn't clear coated like the other side so the color may be a bit off until clear coating. I also noticed a few tiny air bubbles but I am able to press out. The repaired crack just happen to be under this sticker. The very edge of the fairing at the end of the sticker is white instead of blue as well. There is some black ink writing and a few minor nicks on the valve cover factory gold paint from when it was at the dealer be serviced in 2002(thanks a lot guys!). The ink can probably be wiped off and the nicks touched up. This is a very clean bike so things like this stand out. I want to be as thorough as possible.
