Vehicle Detail
Wow i am surprised it did not make my reserve of $5,000. Maybe i put too much in about making it clear what it needed and not how great a shape it actually is. Anyway i need to sell it and even though $4,500 is what i paid for it last year i am going to offer it up for that price however without the new tires. For sale is a 1966 Matchless i bought last year, I am the 3rd owner, first owner bought it from Pokes Cycle the Matchless dealer in Seattle at the time, and apparently decided he wanted to race, found the chassis to heavy so he bought a Rickman kit from Pokes and put the motor and gearbox in it, 2nd owner bought it in 1969 and put a 1960 G80CS motor in it. Sat in a shed for many years and the engine was stuck when i purchased it, It has original paint, wiring, lucas light and tail light, controls etc etc. Still needs some work, fork boots cracked, needs a new throttle, new tires mounted i bought and a speedo cable and a few other things. Front rim and fender are rusty from storage, Check out the Auction results from this years 2 big Vegas bike auctions, Matchless G80CS's sold for 12,000 to 15,500. I kind of lost interest as my right knee is deteriorating to the point that i am reluctant to kick it and cause myself more injury.I also put in a new 6V battery and all of the lights work fine . here is a list of things it still needs or is missing, needs new throttle and cable, new speedo cable, front brake cable, new fork boots, tank badges (Waldridge Motors has them reasonably priced) side stand spring and it does not have a center stand or chain guard. I will include a new set of Avon Speedmaster tires as i had planned to make it more for street riding. I pulled the head and barrel off as previously mentioned the piston was stuck. Barrel has been sleeved and it has a plus .40 piston in it. I replaced the compression and scraper rings, had them custom made. head has the coil spring conversion as well. I was able to bump start it yesterday and i rode it up and down the street for a mile or so. It needs to be tinkered a little bit on the carb is all the seems to be at issue, seems to shift through the gears just fine. However the buyer must realize it has sat for many years and though it is not trashed as so many of them were it is still used, old and in need of attention and i am certainly no expert myself. link to Photobucket of me riding the bike today http://smg.photobucket.com/user/61bsa/media/1966%20Matchless/MVI_0541_zps8048b081.mp4.html http://smg.photobucket.com/user/61bsa/media/1966%20Matchless/MVI_0540_zps25e46e03.mp4.html
