Vehicle Detail

Here's a mostly stock 1972 CB 450, a real nice runner that's a looker. 444 cc DOHC Parallel Twin engine, 5 speed transmission. 43 HP, top speed 110 MPH. This bike has been well maintained and garaged (or barn stored) for it's lifetime (to my knowledge). I believe I am the 3rd owner of this bike. It was licensed and ridden until 1982 (as far as I can tell) when it was put up into storage with around 16,000 miles on it. It was sold to Raskey Motors (Brainerd NE) around 2007(?) as a project bike for restoration, but they never got around to working on it. I bought it from Raskey Motors and had it worked up by Lincoln Classic Bikes in 2008. lincolnclassicbikes.com If you like classic bikes you should check out Raskey Motors, it's basically a museum of classic bikes. Everything on the bike is in pretty good shape, with minor age-related patina (paint chips, dings, etc) all around. The tank and side covers look pretty great, with limited wear and tear. The fenders are real nice, with almost no rust, and are straight and free of dents. The seat is in great shape- no tears, but is missing the strap. The first owner had put custom handlebars and a sissy bar/backrest/luggagerack on it, and the bike had either been knocked over or leaned against something for a long time (minor dents on either side of the tank) but it doesn't seem to have ever been laid down/wrecked. LCB did a great job of getting it back to mostly stock. Essentially they did a limited restoration- new tires, new bars (3" rise), had the tank professionally fixed up (still has a little cosmetic damage), new pipes, and did the other things a old bike needed. According to my mechanic, it started up on the first kick. I got the saddle bags (included in this sale) from a guy who had ridden them on his early 70's CB, but had put them in storage for 20+ years after his wife made him sell off the bike in the 80's. They look great on the bike and can hold a surprising amount of groceries/supplies/whatever. I rode the bike for about 2 years (putting around 4k on it), then basically had it in storage until this prior winter when I had it worked on some more. They fixed up some minor issues, and replaced the points system in the starter with a more reliable system, and just checked it out all around. Here's a laundry list of the most recent repairs/maintenance: 1-full tune and service including: complete brake flush and adjustment, replaced clutch cable and adjusted it, completely rebuilt the carburetors and replaced the all necessary o-rings gaskets, seals , filters and jets, adjusted valves and timing chain, adjusted and lubed drive chain 2- new battery 3- converted the ignition points and condenser to a professionally modified Dyna solid state CDI system( creates wonders for the tune of the bike) (electric starter does not work, but kick starts very easy) 4- replaced spark plugs and plug boots 5- replaced fork seals and fluid 6- tested and repaired taillight wiring issues This bike is a looker and a runner, and while not "showroom", is a nice looking 40+ that is reliable and fun to ride. $500 deposit due within 48 hours of auction close.
