1987 Toyota 4Runner Turbo SR5… No Reserve!! Up for sale is my 1987 Turbo 22RTE 4Runner 4x4, automatic with factory overdrive. Very clean first generation, original, unmolested, rust free, the body is completely straight, paint is OK, there are a few scratches and dings. Fully loaded SR5, Power windows, door locks, mirrors, cruise control, A/C, power antenna, rear window defrost, tilt wheel. All-Digital gauge cluster, "A" pillar gauges A/F & boost, Factory Inclinometer, Alpine head unit with equalizer & amp. Michelin 31x10.50x15 tires on Toyota factory alloy wheels. Adult driven, no kids, non smoker. I have never had it off-road, it has never seen snow or even rain since I have had it. Garage kept and driven only on nice sunny days for pleasure. A/C Blows ICE cold and has been converted to R134. Everything on this 4Runner works, even the annoying warning buzzers and lights... except for the following; The cruise control works intermittently, the rubber actuator diagram is bad and needs repaired/replace, the electrical portion is good. Driver's seat worn from getting in & out, the rear cargo area carpet needs replaced and the fuel sending unit does not register below a half of a tank, sending unit needs rebuilt/replaced. I have boxes and boxes of extra parts that I have collected over the years which are included; Complete Toyota factory service manuals, original Toyota factory running boards, original skid plate, an extra fiberglass top with glass that I was going to use to make a custom half top. Original factory turbo air filer assembly, power window regulators with motors, spare ECU's, switches, relays and sensors, turn signal and wiper/cruse control switches. An extra set of factory Toyota AISIN manual locking hubs with cone washers, new door & window weather striping, misc interior/exterior trim pieces and fasteners… you will need to bring a truck to carry this all with you. About the title... In the spring of 1998 heavy rains resulted in areas of high water in the Temple, TX where the original owed lived. I was told that the water level came up to the bottom of the doors and when it receded, the 4Runner would not start. The owner filed a claim with his insurance company and it was declared a total loss without them even looking at it, the owner retained possession and was issued a salvaged title on 7/1/1998. After cashing the insurance check the owner took the 4Runner to a shop where they found a bad ECU and replaced it; it was inspected and issued a rebuilt/rebuildable title. He kept the 4Runner for almost 4 more years before selling it to me in March 2002. I flew down to the Dallas airport and met up with the owner, a elderly gentleman, who explained the history on the title. After inspecting and verifying that it was an original Turbo model I handed him a cashiers check and drove the 4Runner back to Virginia with no issues other than some soft brakes. I completely went through it over the next 12 months and all of the following has been done and has less than 10,000 miles on it; Total Engine re-build using LC Engineering components…. new street performance head, cam, lifters, push rods, pistons (20 over), rings, bearings, timing chain, timing gears/guide & tensioner, water pump, oil pump, Fuel injectors professionally cleaned, balanced and calibrated. A new Garrett T3/T4 Turbo from TEC, Turbo XS manual boost controller set at 6 LBS, Remote oil filter, K & N cold air intake filter, new Radiator/hoses/belts. Transmission/Transfer case serviced, new shift solenoid's installed. New brakes… Rotors/pads/calipers, drums/shoes/wheel cylinders, master cylinder and hardware. Bilstein B6 Heavy Duty shocks. New Exhaust… Jardine high flow exhaust system, new catalytic converter is included… a test pipe is currently installed. Headlights upgraded to H4, will include a new HID system as well, Optima Yellow Top battery. This 4Runner has never been wrecked and other than the engine performance modifications it is totally original… I urge anyone interested in a rare Factory Turbo 4Runner to come and inspect it, they were only made for 2 years and are getting harder and harder to find. It has current Virginia tags, inspection and insurance. I have truly enjoyed owning this 4Runner, it is quick and fun to drive. It needs to be driven much more that I have time to and I find myself with too many projects and less time to enjoy them all. It's ready to be picked up and driven anywhere.
