Vehicle Detail
For sale: 1976 Triumph Spitfire. Project I got this car as partial payment for a pickup I sold and had plans to restore it in my spare time...that was over two years ago and I've done very little with it since then. I know very little about these British sports cars and I'm getting too old to start learning now...I'll stick to the vintage American vehicles. The car has a good engine, doesn't knock, smoke, or leak oil. (the guy who traded the car to me said it had been recently overhauled, but I just have his word for that) Engine has the Zenith side-draft carburetor which is a little cold natured but seems to run ok after it warms up. The 4-speed transmission works good. The brakes will stop the car but seem a little spongy to me. Car has a hydraulic clutch and I replaced the master cylinder for the clutch. The convertible top is in good shape Has four nearly new Michelin tires and a good spare. As you can see in the photos, the car needs a lot of cosmetic work...some rust repair, body work & paint. and upholstery. It is too low to the ground for me to see much underneath but the exhaust looks almost new. Car has a CLEAR Missouri title, in my name. Car comes with some extra miscellaneous parts, and repair manual. This is a project car...it is NOT a daily driver, but could be with a little work. I have driven this around the block in this small village where I live and the steering, suspension, etc. seem good. Speedometer shows 67,460 but true milage is unknown since the speedometer is not currently working. Please don't email and ask if this will drive cross country...It might, but I sure wouldn't want to try it with an old car I know very little about!!! Opening bid is $200 which is about scrap price and NO RESERVE. I know I'm never going to finish this car so I would rather see someone who knows what their doing get some good from it. $200 Deposit to Paypal due within 48 hours of auction ending. Remainder (if any) can be paid in cash at time of pick-up. Vehicle must be picked up within 1 week of auction ending unless other arrangements are agreed upon prior to auction ending. Vehicle sold AS-IS, WHERE-IS with low opening bid and NO RESERVE!!
