Vehicle Detail
This is a 1984 BMW R100T, black with red and white pinstripes with the added S fairing option. A good friend bought it from the original owner in 1985 (with 3 - 4000 miles) and I bought it from my friend in 2002 (with around 6000 miles.) Online BMW serial number search tool says this bike was produced in June of 1983. The looks of the bike have always appealed to me, and I've been riding it as either guest or owner since the mid-80's. Everything is original on the bike, except for the bar-end mirrors I added in 2002 (I no longer have the stock mirrors) and parts replaced during service as detailed below. Obviously the bike has been ridden very little, so it has almost always been stored on the stand with a battery tender. The clock has been disconnected to minimize additional drain on the battery. I put in a brand new battery approximately 2 weeks ago as part of a 100 mile round trip to my local BMW dealer. It starts and rides very well just as it always has. The dealer's main recommendation was "ride it more!..." The last major service was at 7175 miles in July 2007 at Affordable Beemer Service in Nashua, NH. Service included the following: Replaced driveshaft oil and transmission oil Replaced engine oil with 10W40 Spectro 4 Replaced oil filter Replaced valve cover gaskets Adjusted clutch Replaced air filter, fuel filter, fuel lines Adjusted steering head bearings Re-torqued engine mounts Replaced front master cylinder and flushed brake fluid Added screens to airbox snorkels (keep any mice out of stored bike, just in case.) Cleaned carbs Replaced coils Rebuilt Hall Unit Replaced spark plugs and wires Regarding condition of the bike, the bike runs well as it always has, and is in good condition overall. However, there is also some wear and tear and corrosion. Please see included close-up photos of the following... Scratches or nicks in the body paint: top of the front fender, around the front headlight and right side of the gas tank toward the bottom center. The gas tank shows scuffs and nicks in the paint where the seat closes against it. There's a small dent midway down the top of the left side exhaust pipe. There is corrosion/rust to the underside of the seat. There is some corrosion/rust to the top of the frame under the seat as well as to various other parts of the frame and parts as can be seen in the photos. The tool kit is torn at one corner and tools show some corrosion. No manual is included and neither is he battery tender cable attached to the battery. If you would like any additional photos or close-ups of anything specific, please do not hesitate to ask. Regarding the title, Vermont does not issue titles for vehicles older than 1999, therefore I have no Vermont title document for this bike. Vermont uses the current vehicle registration (which I do have) to transfer ownership. Previously, I had the bike titled in NY state and I do also have the previous NY state title which I could provide as well. Overall, I really like this bike. However, I've only managed to put 400 miles on the bike since 2007... so time to put up for sale. Please let me know any questions and thanks for looking! On Jul-07-13 at 10:30:53 PDT, seller added the following information: Just wanted to add the following (July 7): Here is a close-up photo of the oil change sticker located under the seat, showing it was done at 6,810 miles on 6/4/02.
