This is a really great little car, made in Dagenham, England by Ford of Britain. While many were sold here it is now a very rare sight this side of the Atlantic. This is the second version of the Cortina the mark 2, but it is a series 1 Mark 2 (confused yet) this early Mark 2 car has a 1500 pre-crosflow GT motor but with the better semi close ratio 2000E gearbox and it also has anti tramp bars which disappeared from later GT's. This car is a great driver not a trailer queen it is not rusty and is very solid throughout. I built this car for my self and I was going to put in a hot crossflow motor that I had sitting around but it ran so well I couldn't bring myself to do it. This is what has been done to date , we rebuilt the brakes all round, it has 9 inch discs at the front and drums in the rear the car stops great and they work as they should. The clutch is newish and the transmission can only be described as superb, 4 speed all synchro and an absolute delight to use. We rebuilt the front suspension, new inner and outer tie rods, rebuilt the front shocks with Nissan inserts, and they work a treat . New rear shocks were fitted, in fact I pretty much did whatever was needed to make the car drive well and be safe. It has been converted with single wire alternator from a Corvette and a Faucet electric fuel pump . I also had a superb exhaust system made that sounds great. The car is a great driver but needs further fettling, the carb could do with a rebuild I will include a spare, the tach is not accurate I will include a spare. The temp and fuel gauges are not accurate now. Cosmetically the car has new paint, new wheels and tires, new windscreen rubbers new rear quarter window rubbers, new headliner, fortunes have been spent on this little car , it's going to be sold for a lot less than invested, I have bought another Cortina and this one must go.
