Vehicle Detail
This is a 1974 Suzuki GT750L, it has been in my family for 26 years. I bought it about a year and a half ago from a close relative with the intention of cleaning it up and returning it to the road as a daily driver but it has sat in my garage ever since. The bike starts right up and runs, but for some reason I cannot get it to fire reliably on all three cylinders and it seems to be missing on the center cylinder. I recently had a shop install new points, condensors, and plugs but it still doesn't run right, so I suspect the problem is with the center carb, but I'm no mechanic and don't know for certain. Even though I love Suzuki 'Water Buffalos' (this is my fifth one since 1974), I'm giving up on it and moving on, I have four other bikes to worry about at the moment. This bike looks great from 20 feet away, but it has been around for 39 years and, as most unrestored bikes of this vintage do, shows it's age in the details. This bike has a 1975 GT750M exhaust system and forks on it, but is otherwise original. The seat shows some age, but has no rips or tears and is in excellent, though not new, condition. The fuel tank has several small chips in the paint, and a dent on the front-left side. The red LED gear position indicator works but it has a few 'dead' LED lines so it doesn't show the whole number. The tires are not entirely worn out but are old and should be replaced. The steering head bearings are just starting to feel indented and also should be replaced though it can be ridden as-is for a while. The chrome and exhaust system is generally good with some minor surface corrosion and scuffs here and there but nothing overly obvious. There is a very small dent in the top of the front fender. All the lights and horn work, as does the electric starter. One of the frame mounting tabs that hold the plastic injector oil tank is broken and should be re-welded but the remaining two attach points for the tank still hold it rerasonably securely. The oil tank is beneath the left plastic side cover and the broken tab is not visible whith the cover over it. This is no museum piece, but with a little care and tinkering from an enthusiastc new owner, this bike would make a quite presentable and interesting old ride for someone. It comes with an old Clymer shop manual. I will post additional detail photos after the weekend. I will be glad store the bike, covered, in my garage until pickup or shipping can be arranged. The bike has a clear South Dakota title and is currently licensed. If you win the bike, I will require a $500 deposit at the end of the auction with the balance payed within seven days of the end of the auction. I will reasonably assist with any carrier to get the bike transported, but palleting, crating, and shipping are the responsibility of the buyer. This is a no reserve auction with a fairly low starting price. On Jul-01-13 at 08:22:55 PDT, seller added the following information: Here's a link to a short video I made about a month ago when I was starting the bike for the first time since I bought the it in the spring of 2012. I had set the fuel petcock lever on the 'Prime' position to get some gas into the carbs, so it took a few seconds for the bike to fire up. It will now start up, like all GT750's do, almost instantly with a push of the button, but still doesn't run properly on all cylinders. I suspect the carbs are the problem, even though they were all re-built last year. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y2v0667wMlIOn Jul-01-13 at 20:51:07 PDT, seller added the following information: Here's a link to a little one-handed video I took of my GT750 this afternoon while riding it around the neighborhood in second gear. It misses off idle and at very low rpm's, but does seem to clear up and pull better as the rpm's rise. http://smg.photobucket.com/user/JohnBacklund/media/GTride_zps96897f51.mp4.htmlOn Jul-06-13 at 15:15:12 PDT, seller added the following information: I apologize if I have not been clear concerning this, but I will NOT arrange shipping for this bike, and I will not sell it to a buyer outside of the United States. I don't have any interest in the hassles of international shipping. If you are the high bidder on this GT750, and you are outside of the U.S., you may withdraw your bid with my blessings, no hard feeling on my part. On Jul-06-13 at 15:53:14 PDT, seller added the following information: Alright, I've been talked into (reluctantly) selling the bike to a buyer outside of the U.S. if they handle all the shipping details. It goes without saying (though I'll say it anyway), that the bike will be paid for and all funds will be cleared before the title is signed away and the bike leaves my garage.
