Drivetrain Engine(s) Engine #1. 428 Cobra Jet. The car comes with a 428 Cobra Jet Shortblock. 8M6 Date code December 1968 so it’s close to when the car was built. . Most say dates roughly 3 months from when the car was built can be correct. “C” scratch on the back, reinforced main webbing, C7AE-B rods, 1UB CJ crank, .30 Arias Pistons. Needs redone but it’s Cobra Jet Short-block. Has a cam and lifters and is complete. The drag pack oil cooler is gone. Ram Air Shaker – I have the shaker assembly and the base plate. Engine #2 - Currently has a C9OE-6015-B 351 in the car. This block would be correct for a 1969 Shelby GT350. C9OE-G heads. Offenhauser Aluminum Intake. Transmission – 4 Speed Toploader RUG-E3 Tag. Also correct for 1969 Mustang 351. I do NOT have the original C6. Rearend –31 Spline Axles. Was a 4.30 Traction Lok Originally. Has Nodular “N” Case. Date is correct 9A7 on nodular case. Also Has Daytona pinion Support. Brakes – Front Power disc, all parts still intact. Rear Drum brakes. Power Steering – all Power steering parts are present. Body Front Frame Rails – Very solid, inner, outer, from front to back. Front cross-member and radiator support are also solid. Rear Frame Rails - Very solid, inner, outer, from front to back. The very rear of the rails is also solid. Those areas are prone to rust but these are nice. Doors – The driver’s door is overall solid and definitely useable. The bottom has no major rust holes. Good Door. The passenger door would need an exterior skin. Both doors are useable original doors. Doors do have all of the internals in them. Quarters – The driver’s side quarter is solid overall, the rear of the quarter has a little body filler in it. Quarter does not need replaced. Inside quarter structure and wheelhouses are very solid and well preserved on driver and passenger side. Passenger side quarter needs a rear lower patch. Fenders – Overall solid. May need a small patch in the bottom but very good useable original 69 Fenders. Floor Pans – The front floor pan on the driver’s side has rust and needs replaced. The torque box on that side would also need patched or replaced. The rear driver’s floor is solid. Passenger side needs a front floor pan or just some small patches. It’s not bad. The seat boxes are nice and solid. The floor under the back seats is very nice, solid and original. Trunk - The trunk area is overall very solid. The passenger side pan beside the gas tank has a couple small holes in it. They would repair nicely. Inner wheelhouse and upper structure are all nice solid and original. The transition floor over the axle is very solid. Taillight Panel – Has cougar taillights. I would replace it. I have a new one for it. Rocker panels – Extremely solid both sides. Doors Jambs and Pillars - Both sides are very nice and solid. Where the striker post meets the rocker is nice and solid. Looks smooth. Roof – Needs replaced because somebody put T-tops in it. I have a brand new full roof panel included in the sale. Grille - All Original with the fog lights and all wiring, buckets etc. Fender Aprons – All aprons are very solid. Very solid shock towers. The tops of a couple of the aprons have a couple rust places, but could easily be repaired without removing aprons. Where the aprons meet the frame rails are nice and tight. Firewall – Very solid, does not need replaced. Glass – All original not broken. I have rear window louvers for the car that were added at some point.Interior Seats - The two front high back seats are the originals and are in the color. The covers have been changed. I do not have the rear seat. Dash- Fully intact. The tachometer is gone, or the cluster was replaced at some point. It was an original Tachometer car. Interior Panels – I have both door panels, missing a few small rear interior panels. Summary This is an original R Code 428 SCJ drag pack car with a Clear title and all matching VIN’s 1 of 1 car according to the Marti report. Comes with a 428 CJ shortblock, and a 351 with a 4 speed toploader. Nodular 31 spline traction lok rearend. The car needs completely restored. It does not currently run and drive. it does roll, brake and steer. Overall, the car is nice and solid. You can still see the red oxide primer in many places on the bottom. The car sat in a barn since 1987 and each year the owner put paint on the car “to preserve it” and it seems to have worked. VERY Solid structure. The roof needs replaced, but really that will be the only full panel replacement besides the taillight panel and the partial floor pans. Everything can be fixed. EXCELLENT CAR TO RESTORE!!
