Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is this pretty much unmolested but NOT numbers matching 1959 Corvette, VIN# J59S108391. This is a nice original example that was a daily driver back in the 1980s, then parked due to brake problems and stored inside since. No rot, no issues underneath. One owner since 1981, not on the road since around 1991. It has a Corvette 350 LT-1 from a 1960 or 1970s Vette, not sure but my mechanic says from the engine block he can decode it to the '60s or '70s for sure. Muncie 4-speed is rock solid, engine has excellent compression as it should since the engine had just been rebuilt prior to the car being taken off the road. Engine sounds great, has a minor gas leak at the carb. Has a hard top, I have not looked at the soft top but it is rumored to be in not so great condition but it is complete and intact (possibly missing a bow or support). From what I can tell it is one of the last off the assembly line with a fairly high production number. Car was restored in the mid-80s and the fiberglass is in excellent shape. Paint is good and overall this Corvette turns heads everywhere but this is not a trailer queen. Remember is was a daily driver and has been stored since the early 1990s. Brakes are not there, so please do not think you can drive this until they are fixed! I noticed some ladder bars and a 4.11 rear put in in '86 (have the receipt) but other than that is looks to be bone stock. It even has the original Wonderbar radio, all dials work and I hear some noise but no real sound. I know very little about Corvettes other than this a dream car that I cannot drive. I bought this off a friend of many years so if there are any questions on the car's history we have a reference for anything you can inquire about. I am sure there will be a ton of questions so please feel free to email or call me at 912-677-8965. I am posting a lot of pictures so hopefully they will tell most of the story. Let see where this auction goes, while trailering it home we stopped for some food and when I came out there was a note with just a phone number and a dollar figure written on it. So this auction can end at any time as the car is for sale locally.
