Vehicle Detail
Numbers matching all original drivetrain restored 10th Trans Am. Its just been driven to car shows over the past year, but now I'm ready to move on to another project.I bought this as a non-running car from the third owner 4 years ago. It has undergone a frame-on restoration. It runs and drives very well as it should. The engine is the rebuilt original 403 Olds, numbers matching with the original TH350 transmission. Original build sheet found behind the rear seatback is in good condition. The paint is car show quality, not concours d'elegance. The car was built to be driven spiritively. The odometer has about 86K on it, and I believe that's original but the title doesn't reflect that. The car is originally from Michigan, and has been in New Mexico for a very long time. I could not find any rust-through anywhere. Currently titled, registered and insured in New Mexico. Clean title. This is a car that is dependable and runs great, both classy looking with a lot of power and very responsive on the road. It's a fun car to drive and show. The Good Drivetrain: Engine professionally rebuilt (have receipt) a year ago. CompCams 42-208-4, mild porting. Estimated 275fwhp. Very responsive. Long tube headers, dual exhaust/no cats. Sounds great. Original TH350, excellent condition. Original shaft and new U-joints. Stock rear end (2.73) flushed and cleaned. New power steering gear and new pump and hoses. New alternator. New starter. Rebuilt original distributor; new plugs and wires. Original radiator rodded and reconditioned, new correct hoses. Tires 235/60/15 in good condition on the original 8" turbine wheels. Original cruise control works perfectly. Fuel system: Original numbers-matching carb rebuilt with new vacuum advance units, larger down tubes and jetting. Idles smoothly and starts on the first crank.Brakes: All four discs resurfaced or replaced. All brake pads replaced. Master cylinder rebuilt. Parking brake works.Suspension: All new front ball joints, tie rods and idler arm. All front A-Arm bushings replaced. All new polyurethane body mount bushings. All new shocks. All glass original, includes the original silvered T-Tops. Windshield wiper/washer new and works. Power windows work. Power door locks work. Horn works. Hood release works. New front grilles. All headlights and signals work. Repainted correct two-tone 10th Anniversary silver/gray. New correct decals. New headliner. New sunvisors. New rearview mirror. New front seat cushions. New correct front seat belts; reconditioned rears. New correct front seat covers. Original door panels are ok but show their age slightly; new door panel carpeting installed. New T-Top seals, door seals and trunk seal. New correct interior shag carpet. New dash cover. Reconditioned instrument panel fascia with correct red lighting. I replaced the non-working original 8-track ETR radio with a Delco ETR cassette. Original power antenna works. The speakers (1 in front, 2 in back) are new correct Delco 10ohm units and sound great. New rear package tray. Rear defogger works. New correct stock leather steering wheel. Tilt wheel works. All interior plastic has been reconditioned and repainted. New correct sill plates. New floor mats. New trunk lining carpet. Correct space saver tire, jack, and adapter. Original remote power trunk release works. Trunk light works. The Bad The A/C doesn't work. The correct A6 compressor is new, and A/C Orings were replaced for the R134 conversion along with a new orifice installed, but there is still a leak somewhere. The blower motor is new, but a vacuum line controlling the ventilation system is leaking so the only vent door that gets good airflow is the defroster. If the leaking line can be located and repaired, the system will work fine. The clock on the speedometer is stuck at 7:00. The second hand runs, but the minute and hour hands dont move. The clock's internal gears are stripped. The radio's digital clock is correct. The Ugly The rear seat covers are original; sunchecked and ripped (see pics). There are a few places on the hood bird decal that were damaged during the install (see pics), not bad, but visible. So I'll include a new hood bird decal. There a few places in the paint that need touching up. I'll include a small bottle of both the silver and gray paint. If I can answer any questions for you, let me know. I'd be glad to help with shipping, or just fly in to Albuquerque. I'll pick you up and you can drive it home. I live right on Route 66!
