Vehicle Detail
*06-15-2013 Since several people have asked I will try and get pics of the underside of the car this weekend and since I am maxed out on pics I will upload them to my sever and provide link. I will also empty out the trunk and to get some pics of the inside. I will NOT be removing interior, carpet, wheels etc. for pics of the floor pans, torque boxes etc. I would imagine there to be some rust there but all in all the floor feels surprisingly solid and I had no hesitation driving it daily after seeing the bottom and giving the interior the twice over and finding no where that I was able to "push though" or that felt "spongy". Again, I have not removed the interior and visually inspected but I do have a lot of experience with rust, rust repair and this car is better than most (again subjective but I know of no other way to describe). If rust is NOT something that you want to deal with, either surface removal and Eastwood coating for example or even some sheet metal patching if you intend to do a bare metal restoration then you should pass on this car. I am just trying to be honest (to a fault as my wife claims). The only surprises I want the buyer to have are "pleasant" ones. For some reason, unbeknownst to me, when I view auction on my android phone it shows "does not ship to CA" which is WRONG and also states to contact seller for shipping fees which is also WRONG. I will assist getting this car loaded on a carrier of your choosing. I have used several, some are much better than others but in reality they (mostly) all work through a master scheduler so if someone tells you they can do it faster than anyone else (within reason) I would be very cautious. That said it is the responsibility of the BUYER to arrange and pay fo shipping. I will be happy to assist with loading etc. on my end (I have shipped/received no less than 10 cars but who's counting?). BTW..... I will work with payment methods other than PayPal but the deposit MUST be made via PayPal and I strongly prefer PayPal to protect the both of us. *Do not arrange for shipping until after you have received confirmation from me that payment has been received/cleared. Thanks! *Please read entire listing - I have done my best to take clear pictures and describe condition as accurately as possible. Do NOT assume anything. If you have questions please send me an e-mail via eBay.I shouldn't have to say it but I will - No other car(s) that happened to be in line of sight while I was taking photos are included in this auction. NOT the white 72 cobra jet or the 2004 supercharged cobra SVT..........*Note - Although pictures don't show it I am about 99% positive I can find the stock air cleaner lid with the 351C-2V stickie on it. I am even more positive I can find the original clock that was completely gone through and upgraded to a quartz movement (super low battery consumption and quartz gets rid of the problem with the original blowing the resistor out). I will of course send these items along with the car to the lucky winner. 1972 Mustang ConvertibleNicely optioned car351 Cleveland 2V EngineFMX 3 spd Automatic TransmissionDeluxe interior with Comfort Weave UpholsteryFont Power Disc BrakesLess than 88K original milesFactory A/C (not working but complete).I bought this car from a gentleman in Lumberton, NC 3-4 years ago to do a total restore for my daughter. She lost interest and it became my daily driver until the auto trans leak got unmanageable and it has sat ever since. Since I was driving it I never got it gutted but I am sure there is rust in all the usual places. The car is bone stock and it's obvious that it went through a very amateur restoration at some point (magnet tells me there is quite a bit of body filler) and looks like a pretty decent cowl repair was done sometime in the past. With very little work this could be a driver again while restoring. The transmission being the most immediate concern, before the leak trans was shifting crisp in all fwd and reverse gears. Brakes should be checked but worked well when car was last driven. The shift selector is sloppy as is par for these mustangs. A couple of new shims available here on eBay would fix that right up. I have done several and it is a simple rebuild extremely well documented on the internet. The top is fairly worn but the hydraulics and motor work just fine as the top goes up and down with the stock toggle switch just as it should. E-Mail me via eBay only with any questions. I try and get to my mail at least once a day.
