Vehicle Detail

1966 Double Door Panel Van. Selling my 1966 VW panel van. This is a running and driving bus. Overall the bus is VERY solid with a few  rust areas in the front floor and the rockers under the double doors. This would make a great Shasta trip bus or daily driver with a little work. This has always been a west coast bus and stored indoors most of the time, that I know of, since the mid- 1990's.  The few rust areas are small and the rust is confined to that area. The bus has been driven most of the time in its life, and  minor modifications have been done to it over the years by the different owners  to keep it as a driver.  Overall, this bus is a great driver and can continue to be driven (with some TLC) or would make a great canidate for a restoration since most of the bus is rust free. Was recently painted with a satin, off-white automotive paint. The engine starts every time and is a Mexico AS41 case. I believe it's a 1500cc, but haven't taken the heads off  to measure the pistons. It came out of a daily driver 1970's bus. Someone has added an oil filter and oil cooler system that doesn't leak and has been working great. At some point in this bus's life, someone added a pop top which will open if you install the rails which are included with the bus. I've always kept it closed and haven't installed them. The Good:   - Runs and drives.   - New master brake cylinder, all new metal brake lines and rubber hose lines.  New front brake shoes.   - Starts  up every time. - VERY solid.  The original belly pans are in place and no rust holes.  Roof has no rust and is solid. - Rear tires are almost new, front tires would need to be replaced if you were going on a road trip. - Interior has all of its original factory grey paint in the back.  The front has had a silver respray at some point which looks like it could be removed. - 2 Front seat belts fitted in the factory seat belt holes. - Horn, turnsignals, brake lights, headlights, interior dome lights all work. - The holes in the front floor and over the front wheel arches have new flat plate metal welded over them. - Comes with an older original front bench seat in the front, very clean rear Westfailia camper bed from a '70's bus in the back. - Correct (original) front and back pointed bumpers. - DOUBLE DOORS!   - New speedometer cable. - New front and rear floor mats. - New front window seals. - Heat works. - Front splash pan is included and will be installed (took it off for photos). - Rear engine lid and  apron are from an older year (59'63' -ish) has the church key type of lock. The not so good:   - Someone cut out the back seat bulk head and the m-code is gone. (This has nothing to do with the title or vin - mainly states where it was shipped to, colors and options it had. Still has the VIN plate on the overhead air vent.).  I made a plywood back and welded in a couple of bar supports that it is bolted to. VERY solid, but can be cut out to fix it with a real bulk head if you had one.   - Someone cut out an 8"x10" hole in the back cargo area. I spot welded a plate over it so you can run it as is, or easily remove it to repair it with original floor.   - Pretty good dent under the drivers back cargo door.       -  This bus has some dents and dings around the lower part of it, some old bondo work in a few  very lower areas of the side doors and front nose. - Received the 70's "rear air vents have been cut out and scoops added" treatment. - The passenger rear cargo door needs a new door mechanism.  The current one is broken and needs manual help to push the rods up or down. Please remember that this is a 47 year old unrestored bus. Please call me if you have any questions, would like a specific photo or would like to see the bus. 541-218-7255 Kevin It's located in Grants Pass, OR. Clean Oregon title in hand. If you are using an auto transport shipping service with a large semi truck   I can meet them to load it near an I-5 exit. It's easy for them to get on and off of the freeway and load. I have done this with a couple of other cars. Shipping and pick up is the responsibility of the buyer. Lots of photos below - please allow time for them to load: Terms of Sale The following terms of sale apply to all of my online sales:        Payment Methods   Cash (in person), certified check, bank transfers. On May-29-13 at 17:32:46 PDT, seller added the following information: UPDATE - I just installed an earlier, restored wiper motor and new wiper parts. So the wipers work. They are one speed and don't self-park. On May-29-13 at 21:10:49 PDT, seller added the following information: Update #2 - Someone asked about the brakes and transmission - I drove the bus today and the breaks are working great and the tranny shifts and stays in all gears. Speedometer works also. E-brake works. Bus is a lot of fun to drive and drives really straight, had it up to about 50 mph. Clutch also feels strong. The shifter itself has some sloppiness to it, but easy to find all of the gears.
