Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is my 86 Toyota sr5 4x4 5 speed long bed pickup. It is in excellent condition mechanically and cosmetically. I am the second owner, having owned it for the last 18 years/115,000 miles (actually sold it to my dad, and got it back a few years ago). It has 175,000 miles currently. I have kept up on all maintenance, oil changes, and it runs and rides excellent. It rides like new, solid with no rattles in suspension or otherwise. The only thing that comes close to the solid ride this truck offers is a brand new truck. I have a 2003 Silverado SS with extremely low miles, and it has never ridden this solid! A number of years ago I replaced all the front wheel bearings and races as well as upgrading/retrofitting the inner front axle hub bushings to a needle bearing style used on the 95 and newer model trucks. It has the 22re fuel injected 4 cylinder (19 mpg city miles last i checked). I have replaced the timing chain with tensioners and water pump on schedule. After the first chain, it blew a head gasket due to a defect in the gasket ring between the cylinders. We decided that if we were going to tear down the top end again we'd freshen the whole motor with rings, bearings, performance cam (made specifically for factory motors to improve performance of its typical rpm use of 1000-4000 rpm), rockers, head freshen/test, another new timing chain, tensioners, new upgraded steel/rubber timing chain guide, and water pump. Was all blueprinted by machine shop. They said it all looked excellent. That all was at 124,000 miles, so the motor now has about 50,000 miles. Installed a new clutch, pressure plate, throwout bearing and surfaced flywheel done at that point as well. Some more details: new 31x10.5x15 BFG all terrain t/a ko's. This truck has a/c and it works great, blows cold! 2" body lift, 1" rear shackle leveling lift, bucket seats. There are no rips or holes in the seats (original upholstery) and has had seat covers on it since before i bought it. It is the sr5 model so it has carpet, tachometer, and chrome trim. The truck also has an optima type Spira-cell sealed/maintenance free battery. This truck is super clean (by a perfectionist's standards), super sharp, runs awesome, doesn't leak a thing on the driveway, rides like new. Also did a new exhaust from behind the cat, muffler, and new tailpipe (all factory quiet design). More details: It has no visible rust in the whole truck. Frame has no structure weakness or cancer rust. The cab forward is rust free. About 14 years ago I had the common bedside rust problems this generation is plagued by. I ended up cutting out the rust, welding in new metal, and painting the bed. The rust came back about 3 years ago. I wanted to replace the bed with a new fiberglass unit but didn't have the funds. So, I ground out the rust, used a rust neutralizer, and filled over it and painted the whole truck with a nice blue pearl color (original factory color was blue). About two weeks after painting the truck I got rear-ended. It did very little damage as the receiver hitch took the hit first. It warped the bottom of the tailgate in about 1/4" in the middle. I ended up leaving it alone, as the damage was so minor and really didn't show much (clear title, no salvage, no rebuilt title, no blemished title, and the accident was reported to the police). Well, the rust showed up again recently (didn't break through the paint, just blistered underneath). I am tired of the rust. I want a newer Toyota Tacoma. SO... to try to get all I can out of this truck, I ground out the rust again, neutralized it, fixed any damage in the tail, and painted the WHOLE truck again last weekend. It came out really nice, but I know the rust is still in there. I also painted the frame a matte black. There is still a substantial amount of bedside left on the truck. I always tried to tackle the rust early, so it didn't take hold and destroy the bed like so many you see. So you may be able to restore this bed again someday, or scrap it and go for a fiberglass one. I tell you all this so as to not try to hide anything, and because I truly believe that this truck is worthy as a collector's item (for driving use), looking awesome now, and not rotten to the point of not being saved someday if the rust in the bed comes back. I would trust it to drive any distance, anytime. I truly believe that a buyer could fly into my area and drive it anywhere connected by land and trust it to get you there. It has provided great transportation for me. As it is the long bed, a person can easily fit two full size dirt bikes in it with tailgate up. We've hauled three as well (one was a smaller xr 200). Buyer to pay all transportation, travel, lodging costs, etc. I have tried to give an honest, detailed and accurate description, but feel free to email with specific questions. THANKS FOR LOOKING! Ebay won't let me revise those details in the payment section at this point in the auction, so here are the instructions: I reduced the deposit amount required through paypal by 48 hours of auction close, yet I am not comfortable accepting a money order/cashier's check for the remainder of the payment. I would prefer a wire transfer from bank to bank. Talk to me at auction close to get details and we'll work it out together. THANKS FOR YOUR INTERST EVERYONE!
