Selling my 1998 BMW R1100RT with 76,500 miles. I’m the owner and hold clear title. I’m the third owner and ever since I’ve owned it all services have been performed by BMW Motorcycles of Fort Lauderdale. All maintenance records come with the bike. This is a South Florida bike. Services performed : · 14 oil changes with BMW’s original oil and filter. Last one done 4 weeks ago. · 3 tune ups. · Fuel filter changed every year. · O-rings replaced 2 years ago. · Clutch cable replaced 2 years ago. · New BMW ABS pump installed 2 years ago ($2,300 value service with installation and computer activation). · 5 valve adjustments. · Front/Rear brake pads changed 1 year ago. · BMW fuel system strainer replaced 1 year ago. · New BMW gel battery is 6 months old. · New brake light switch replaced 1 year ago. After reaching 70,000 miles, the following preventive services were also performed at BMW Ft. Lauderdale: · Replaced ignition impulse send unit. · Installed a new Cams Chain tensioner. This is a critical part in these bikes. It prevents the internal chains,that control the valves/cylinders synchronization, from stretching and causing valve bending and cylinder damage. Needs to be done at around this mileage. · Replaced the Oil Pressure switch and the oil sight glass window for better reading. Accessories and upgrades included with the bike: Aftermarket driver’s back rest, cylinder crash protectors, steel brake lines, bar risers, aftermarket extra large windshield, BMW saddle bags and top box with passenger back rest, original BMW flat-tire kit with compressed air cylinders, BMW original tool set kit, aftermarket passenger gel seat, BMW original bag reflectors, Clymer’s BMW Repair Book, Owner’s operating & maintenance manuals, exterior cover, and 2 sets of keys. All plastics are fit to the frame with no gaps, cracks or scratches of any kind. Paint is shiny and surfaces are soft to the touch. Normal wear like boot scuffs in the saddlebags are evident, as well as a couple of road debris marks in the front portion of the fairing, but only evident at a close up distance. The front seat is starting to show some fading and has a small rip but nothing severe. Bike does not have cruise control, no heated grips, and no radio. Despite the platinum service and preventive maintenance given thru out these years, I’m aware that these points do not necessarily increase the value of the bike. It just raises the desirability factor for some buyers a bit more. To make it fair, the “Buy it now” price is an average between the retail and the trade-in value at Kelley Blue Book motorcycles. And the reserve price is not far from there. So bid with confidence. You will not overpay for this bike. In summary, this is a well maintained sport tourer prepared to last 15 more years.
