Vehicle Detail

1972 FORD GRAN TORINO My friend and I picked this car up a month or so ago from its second. I’ve been trying for years to snag it, and finally he was willing to sell. Now our wives have changed our plans with the car, so here goes…. First of all, I call it RESTORATION READY because there is a million little things to do on it to make it perfect, and its impossible to list them all. But… The car runs strong and smooth. The engine is the 351 Cleveland with a 2 barrel carb. I drove it home 200 miles from Tucson and it ran great. When I got it home it started sputtering, I guess from sitting so long, so we had the carb rebuilt by a professional mechanic, who also looked it over and thought it was a great car. The only issue with the engine is a slight lifter noise which the mechanic said was not something to be concerned about. It steers good, but could use an alignment. The mechanic said that the brakes look like they have been done recently, they work great, too. It doesn’t smoke (I prefer a non-smoker myself) or leak. The Transmission works perfect. The exterior has a few dents and dings, nothing big. The Tucson sun has baked the original gold paint into a patina I will call Saguaro goldish-green. The glass is good, the windows roll up and down good. The driver’s door needs to be adjusted. There is some bubbling of rust under the paint in a place or two. The A/C needs to be charged. The tires look ok. The interior needs a help, and the front seat needs to be re-upholstered. I think the back seat is good, though. The interior plastic and parts are there and good with the exception of an AC vent part and the steering wheel cover plate, although it’s possible those parts are in the car somewhere, I don’t know. The dash is cracked under the dash mat. The radio, blinkers, buzzers, lights and gauges all seem to work properly. I personally wouldn’t hesitate to drive it across the country, but that’s me. The car acts like she wants a good long road trip anyway. The cool factor on this car is OFF THE CHARTS and I hate to get rid of it…although we have to put a reserve to try and get our money back. If not we’ll keep it and restore and deal with the women later. (If they are still around) Buyer needs to post a NON-REFUNDABLE $500 deposit at the end of auction through Paypal so that we can pay the auction fees no matter what happens. If the deposit isn’t paid then the car will be offered to the next bidder. We will work with you on airport pickup if you fly into Phoenix. Also, we can store the car for 30 days after close of auction. So, basically, we have a cool old Gran Torino that is RESTORATION READY!!! GOOD LUCK!!!!On May-09-13 at 21:32:23 PDT, seller added the following information: Just so everybody knows, this car is ACTUALLY A 1973! There is a mis-print on the title that says 1972 and thats how it got listed this way. I'm not able to correct that by revising the auction, I can only add info, so anyway its a 73 for sure. Thanks to all who wrote in with that info.On May-13-13 at 07:46:46 PDT, seller added the following information: Thank you for all the nice daily emails informing me that the it is ACTUALLY A 1973!! There is a MISPRINT ON THE TITLE saying it's a 1972 and that is how it got listed that way....I AM NOT ABLE TO EDIT THE TITLE to the auction, and at this point WILL NOT STOP THE AUCTION TO RELIST IT. So, thank you for the info, I really appreciate it, and no longer need this information because I have POSTED IT ON THE AUCTION. Instead, think of this auction as being for a..... 1973 FORD GRAN TORINO Thanks and good luck with your bidding!!!!
