General: You are bidding on a 1963 Studebaker Avanti. It is equipped with an R2 Supercharged 289 V8 engine (original); Powershift Automatic transmission, power steering, power brakes and power windows. The car runs and drives and is in very nice condition. Exterior: The car appears to have been repainted in the past. The paint is overall is excellent shape, but does have some stone chips, parking lot dings and some other minor blemishes (see photos). The brightwork is also in good condition, although the bumpers do show signs of wear. Plastic trim pieces show age as well. Interior: The driver's side seat shows some wear, with a couple of split seams (see pictures). The remainder of the seating surfaces are in good condition, as are the door panels and headliner. The console shows some minor staining. The instrument panel is losing paint. Mechanical: The car runs and drives, and the engine shows good oil pressure (see pictures). It is a reluctant starter when sitting over a longer period of time. Power windows operate with full range of motion. Engaging reverse when engine is cold stalls engine, but transmission shifts smoothly on other ranges. The shifter will not manually hold the low gear position unless held in the low position by hand (it pops out) - possibly a linkage adjustment or transmission mount issue. Driver's side tail pipe hanger is broken. Passenger side windshield wiper is broken at the base (see pictures). Vacuum gauge does not work. Brakes pull to left slightly. Structural: Frame and hog troughs are very solid. There is some surface rust and minor rust scale on the frame (see pictures) Other: Manuals pictured are included in the sale. The Avanti is available for viewing on May 3 and May 4 at the St. Joseph County Fairgrounds, South Bend, Indiana as part of the Studebaker Drivers Club Michiana Chapter's Swap Meet.
