Vehicle Detail
Thank you for checking out my 1957 3100 short bed. I searched for a long time to find this truck. What makes it special is the wrap around big rear window, its original 265 V8 and its 4 speed on the floor manual (first gear is a granny gear). It was not easy to find one like this – especially in this condition. The truck was built in Oakland California. The original owner lived in California and owned the truck up until his death in 2005. At that time his neighbor bought it. The original owner logged approximately 49,000 miles on the truck and other than towing a small trailer to car shows rarely drove it. The truck then was sold to the owner in IL that I purchased it from. This truck has never seen salt or snow – ever. The three owners since 2005, have logged approximately another 8,000 miles. Body panels are all original. The typical areas that have rust problems on these trucks (cab corners, door hinge area) are solid and rust free. As is the frame, floors and everything else. The chrome is in good condition as well. I was told that the bed is even the original wooden bed. It starts every time, runs extremely strong. Clutch is excellent. Brakes are good. Excellent running truck. The truck was ordered with the 265 V8 and the manual 4 speed on the floor transmission. It still has its original engine and transmission. The intake and carb have been upgraded to a 4 barrel, and the valve covers and air cleaner were upgraded as well. However, I have the original intake, carb, generator and air cleaner that all go with the truck. I also have a set of correct staggered bolt Chevrolet valve covers that go with the truck. All the major components (engine, transmission) are all correctly date coded. The truck appears to have been painted once and there are a few very small paint chips from bugs, road debris – nothing major. Looking up the paint code, this truck was originally a rare two-tone model (ivory over gray). There is one area on the front bumper where the chrome is peeling. The cab seat is the correct seat but has been recovered and was done very well. The tires and wheels are aftermarket but compliment the truck very nicely. It also now has dual exhaust and has a beautiful exhaust note. Tonneau cover was added and is easily removed. Other than these few aftermarket additions the truck is original. Again, I have a number of parts that go to the truck that are the original parts. The truck also has the side mounted spare tire, which you don’t see too often on these. This truck is a great classic truck that is turn-key and go. I had hoped to completely bring this truck back to its original colors and stock parts but have bought yet another classic and I really need garage space. In my opinion, this one should be brought to all original condition. What a rare example you would have. Any questions please just drop me an email. I’m open to reasonable offers. Terms; I’m serious about selling my truck so ask that any potential bidders/offers do not have zero or negative feedback (contact me first or your bid will be cancelled and offered declined). Paypal is fine for the $500.00 deposit. Cash, bank check or bank wire is fine for the balance. (If you want to use Paypal for the balance you will need to be responsible for the 3% up charge). The truck will not leave until the bank checks clears (typically takes a few days). Buyer is responsible for shipping cost and arrangements although I am very flexible for pick-up and for anyone that might want to come and see the truck. Thanks! Looking at panels from underneath the truck I see no patchwork. There is however, some evidence of some bodywork on the tailgate. - Paint is okay but there is some orange peel. - Horn / signals, lights do work. - I've been asked if this truck is safe at speed on the highway. Honestly I have never taken it on the highway. It could do it but not something I ever had the ambition to try. I have had it up to 60-65 with no problems however. This is not a 40K trailer queen. It's a super nice driver that has so much originality that it could be brought up to trailer queen status if that's what you want. Nothing has been done to this truck that couldn't be fairly easily be "undone" Thanks for all of the interest. Never expected this much email!
