Vehicle Detail

Up for sale is my 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 2 door Sedan The Car was built in Atlanta, GA on April 3rd 1957. Reports tell the bulk of the life was spent in Alabama. During the restoration process which took place from January through June of 2011 nearly every nut and bolt on the car was turned. The unbelievable thing about this car is that there was only slight surface rust in very few areas on the car. Every panel inside and out including all floor pans, body supports and rocker panels are original. They have not been patched nor replaced. I have 50 documented pictures of the restoration process that has been bound in a hard cover book that will be given to the new owner. There are not a lot of these cars around because rust was a major problem. To find a car with 100% original unrepaired metal is remarkable and makes this car very valuable. To make the car even more rare is it has not been in even the slightest fender bender. The only body filler used was for a few very small dents in the top of the deck lid and hood. Finally the car was finished in base coat clear coat RM paint in more of a satin sheen emulating the original finish on the car. The car is finished in an original color star mist blue and colonial white. The frame was cleaned treated for surface rust primed and painted. While working on that the gas tank was cleaned and glass lined while the exterior was painted. All new fuel lines were installed. All minor surface rust on body, frame, suspension components etc was cleaned, rust treated primed and painted. All body script and emblems were replaced or re-chromed. Every piece of interior or exterior chrome or stainless was cleaned, polished, re-chromed or replaced. The 292 engine ran perfectly and the compression checked even and within specs prior to the rebuild. It was disassembled, the heads were worked, all components were checked to be within specs and it was reassembled. The engine was equipped with all new ignition parts including a new distributor. A late model carburetor is installed to improve drivability and cold start. The generator has been replaced with an alternator to provide better charging. The radiator and heater core has been serviced and pressure tested. The linkage, springs and other control parts were repaired or replaced. A new water pump, hoses, thermostat and belts were installed. The vacuum operated windshield wipers have been updated with an electric wiper motor for better functionality. The standard exhaust has been replaced with a dual stainless steel system that sounds great. The engine starts easily and runs perfectly cold or warm. The automatic transmission was completely rebuilt. Nearly every wearable suspension component was replaced. This car is as tight as the day it was new. It drives down the road perfectly straight, stops with no pull and has no unusual squeaks or rattles. All brake lines, wheel cylinders, brake hoses, brake shoes and master cylinder have been replaced. Wheel bearings and seals were replaced. Wheels were stripped primed and painted. New Coker white wall bias ply tires were mounted and balanced. All dash components were removed, refurbished or replaced with new. All gauges work as well as all dash lights and components. The original radio was professionally modified to become an AM FM. It looks totally original but it plays FM stations. All lights were disassembles and serviced or replaced. New door handles were installed inside and out with the ignition and trunk properly keyed. All door and glass controls were inspected, repaired and lubricated. New door and trunk weather strip and seals were installed. As the car was reassembled all new body clips, grommets, plugs, and rubber bumpers were installed. As you might expect the exterior of the car makes it a showstopper. Truly one of the most remarkable things about this car is the absolute exact match to original LeBaron Bonney interior. This car is showroom new inside. Exactly like it was in 1957 down to the optional seat belts. It blows people away every time they look in the car. It is that awesome. Pictures do not do this car justice. This car could easily be at Barrett Jackson in Scottsdale. It is truly a 98 out of 100 car. The only reason that this car is not a 99 out of 100 is there is some slight cracking on some of rubber weather strip on the exterior glass. There is also one small indentation in the stainless windshield trim. I call it like it is. That is why my eBay rating is 100%. There will not be any suprises if you are the winner. I drive this car a lot. By that I mean 3 times a month. I love the car but need to make room for another. I will make a very bold claim that few owners of a 1957 vehicle can make. I feel very confident that you could fly into Pensacola and drive this car back home to anywhere in the US. There is a bunch of patched up junk out there for much cheaper. You have to pay to get the very best. I have receipts for over $15,000 of just parts. That does not include 6 months of labor for 2 professional restorers, or the original price of the pristine boded fully operable car. This car is seriously for sale and priced agressively. I will entertain all reasonable offers and trades. I will not give the car away. It is simply too nice. Please do not make an offer of any kind if you do not have the financial means to follow through on your offer. Just because you can get financing on a 2013 Ford Mustang does not mean that you can get financing on a 1957 classic car. IF YOU ARE PLANNING ON FINANCING THIS CAR CALL YOUR BANK PRIOR TO MAKING AN OFFER. If you buy this car and can't follow through I will report you as a non paying bidder. Sorry for this last paragraph. I hate to end the listing with a sour note but nobody needs dreamers or time wasters bidding on their car.
