Vehicle Detail
I have up for sale a beautiful all original 1996 Chevy Impala SS. This car is currently owned by my friend and his wife. The car belonged to his mother-in-law who recently passed away and the car was left to his wife. They have several vehicles already and just don't have a need for this car so they asked me to list it for sale on ebay for them. This car is a super clean well maintained 96 Chevy Impala SS. As stated above this car was owned by my friend's mother in law who passed away several months ago. My buddy is a car guy who has always maintained this car for his mother-in-law. He currently has a 71 Chevelle and a 66 Chevelle SS 396 and frankly those 2 cars are priority in his life. His wife just recently purchased a brand new Ford Edge and as stated above, they just have no need or room for the Impala. My buddy took very good care of this Impala for his mother in law. He changed her oil faithfully every 3000 miles as well as performing any and all maintenance needs on the car for her. The car has the powerful 350 LT-1 V8 which has 130,779 miles. It's been well maintained over it's life. Like I said my buddy changes the oil faithfully and just recently the car received a new water pump as well as having all the coolant hoses changed too. Also within the last 2 years the alternator was replaced. Other than that the car has been extremely reliable, hasn't required any specific maintenance, and drives strong. The automatic overdive transmission was rebuilt by a very reputable independant shop approximately 20,000 miles ago. The rest of the drivetrain is in excellent condition and as stated above, the car drives nice and strong. It's a great car to take on a long trip in as it cruises the highway nicely and has plenty of room for 4 adults. Around town it handles really nicely. The motor pulls strong through the gears. These Impala SS's received the police motor and handling package in a fantastic looking car with an add on spoiler to make a really nice cruiser. It has 4 wheels disc brakes that stop very well and the tires are 17" low profile and they have lots of tread life left. The paint and body of the car are in great condition for it's age. I do know that several years ago someone backed into the front bumper of the car in a parking lot scraping it and causing the paint to flake off so my buddy's mother in law took the car into a shop and had the front bumper resprayed and the hood blended to make sure everything matches. I looked at the car hard in the sun to see if I could tell a difference and you just can't. Other than that the rest of the body is all original and super clean. My buddy's mother in law stored the car in her garage and over the past 5-6 years has only put about 25-30,000 miles on the car. The color is a beautiful dark cherry metallic, which looks fantastic in the sun. Even though the car was stored indoors and well cared for it does have one or two VERY minor dings and a slight barely noticeable scratch in the paint which may or may not buff out. But for a 17 year old car the paint and body look fantastic. The interior is in VERY nice all original condition. It's the factory gray leather interior with a center console and floor shifter. There is one small tear in the side of the driver's seat but otherwise the rest of the interior is just fantastic. The door panels and headliner are super clean and unmolested. Like I said this was an older woman's car and she kept it clean and in the garage. The back seats look like hardly anyone has ever sat in them. This Impala is fully loaded. The Impala SS model was the top of the line car in it's day and came standard with all the power options. Such as: power windows, locks, cruise, tilt wheel, A/C, power steering, and brakes. The only added option that this car has is a trunk mounted 6 disc CD changer which is hard wired into the factory stereo and has a seperate controller, Since it's mounted in the trunk and controlled by a seperate controller, the interior still looks 100% factory stock. I've driven the car and it drives nice and tight, and straight down the road. I'm also a car guy as well, I have a restored 68 Firebird 400 and I'm currently fixing up my 86 5.0 Mustang GT with T-tops. I've been working on cars for over 20 years and this car rides nice and tight. Frankly if I didn't have my T-top Mustang to drive to work on nice days, I'd probably grab this Impala, but I currently have 3 vehicles and my wife drives her 4 Runner so we own 4 cars. She isn't going to allow me to have a 5th. Everything works on this Impala. The factory A/C still blows cold. The cruise, power windows, locks, ect are all in exlent working condition. Overall it's a nice solid driver that will bring someone lots of driving enjoyment over the years. These Impala's were only built for a select few years and I know that they have a loyal following. Here's an opportunity to own a nice, clean, straight older woman owned, unmolested car. The car just recently passed Pennsylvania's state safety inspection which is now good until February of 2014. Pennsylvania is relatively strict on it's sfaety inspection requirements. They check emissions as well as exhuast, drivetrain, suspension, and all lights and wipers. This car passed with flying colors and is ready to be driven and enjoyed. As I said this is NOT my car. I am listing it for my friend who is not set up to sell on ebay. I do have extra pictures of the car and I will glaldy take any additional pictures of certain area's if necessary. If you happen to have additional questions, please include an email address and I will forward those questions to my buddy. Like I said he's a car guy and will happily answer any and all questions about the car. On Apr-09-13 at 13:13:01 PDT, seller added the following information: My friend read the ad I typed up and thought of 2 things he forgot to tell me when I listed the car. The car is equipped with a Viper alarm system which also came with a remote start option. Both are in excellent working order. Also, the rear left window goes down to a point and then goes slightly crooked. The power motor works fine, he thinks maybe the rollers are worn. He said if you roll it all the way down, you just have to help guide it straight with your hands when it comes up. And lastly he is driving the car to work one day a week to keep the fluids flowing and the battery charged, so the miles listed may be a little higher when the car is picked up.
