Vehicle Detail
For Sale: 2002 Chevy S-10 Pickup with A.R.E brand Camper Shell. The truck is a standard cab pickup with the 4.3L V-6 engine, automatic transmission, after-market Kenwood AM/FM/CD player with upgraded speakers and external amplifier, and just over 230,500 miles. I removed the air conditioner compressor about a year ago to boost fuel economy, but the A/C was working perfectly at the time, and I will include the removed A/C compressor with the sale if you would like to reinstall it. It has a new (installed 2 months ago) water pump, and new radiator hoses and serpentine belt were also installed at that time. It still runs strong. As expected at 200,000+ miles, it uses a little oil (approx. a quart per month) but does not smoke, and has no visible leaks other than the P/S hose. This has been my daily driver for over 2 years, and I have put 60,000 miles on it (including nearly 80 trips from Denver to Vail and/or Aspen) with little mechanical work required other than normal maintenance. The topper is one of ARE's Deluxe Commercial Unit (DCU) Series. Both sides have solid lift-gates that run nearly the full length of the camper. The cap height is 29", and the height from truck bed to top of camper is 44". The full-height double back doors create an opening 40" high by 44" wide. The large window in front and two smaller windows in back doors are reinforced within by a heavy aluminum mesh, making them extremely secure. The latching and locking mechanisms are also exceptional, making this an extremely secure unit. The topper also includes a sturdy tubular aluminum equipment rack (see photos). Currently, studded snow tires are mounted, but I will also include a set of used summer tires. The original Chevy tailgate (not mounted) is included with the truck, and it also includes a heavy rubber pad-style bed liner. Known Issues: In the interest of full disclosure: · Front right tire needs replacing…vehicle needs an alignment. · Power Steering pressure hose leaks…mechanic estimates repair at roughly $100 · Although engine runs strong, the “check engine” light occasionally flashes when run in excess of 2500rpm for extended periods. Several mechanics have tried to remedy this without success. They have concluded that there is an occasional mis-fire in one cylinder when running at high RPMs. This has gone on since before I owned the vehicle, and I have driven it for over 2 years / 60,000 miles without any deterioration or problem, no knocking or unusual engine noises present. · Upon purchasing this vehicle, I noticed a slight slip in the transmission when shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear, only under extreme acceleration. This concerned me, but as with the engine glitch, this problem has not presented a problem or deteriorated at all in over 60,000 miles. Sale Price: auction starts at $1600 (no reserve) with Buy-it-now value at $2060 ($2000 plus sellers fee) Blue book (fair condition) for this vehicle is $1650. However, I'm calculating the current value of the truck at $1100 because of existing defects (listed below) and expected MINOR cosmetic bumps and bruises. This is an AWESOME work rig for the handy-man, electrician, musician, etc.
