Vehicle Detail
Runs strong, with excellent diesel engine, transmission/synchros and chassis, electrics/gauges work, new radials (16-inch Vredesteins,) glow plugs and brakes, a good-driving example of a fairly early Austin FX4 taxi. This is the classic London taxi -- built initially a consortium between Austin, taxi vendors xx and xx and body UK supplier Carbodies. Very original -- including interior (appears to be leather) which is good, excepting a shattered right rear door panel (see photo). Glass is excellent, rubber gaskets, functional but not fresh. Of particular interest, an original taxi meter in rupees, suggesting this had some history in India prior to traveling to St Louis then Georgia, which is where I bought it a few years ago. The bad: while the separate frame chassis is excellent, body does have non-structural rust and the paint is 10-20-foot good, with a few minor poorly disguised repairs. It is useable as is, though would benefit from a paint job and simple rust repair. It would be a great candidate for a bio-diesel conversion or fairly straight ahead restoration project. Parts and service advice widely available. Speedometer not working. Mileage unknown. On account of it being a 46-year-old taxi with apparent service in India, there are no warranties, express or implied. Seller reserves the right to sell locally and to end auction early. Can help arrange shipping, at buyer expense. Full payment due within seven days, $500 deposit with Paypal within 48 hours. Principals only, NO BROKERS please.
