Up for auction is a 1957 Chevy 3100 pickup that would make an awesome rat rod. A friend of mine purchased the truck about a year ago with the intent of restoring it but never got around to it and has now taken a job out of state so I am selling it for him. I do not know much about the trucks history accept that it was on a farm for most of its life. It hasn't been registered since the 80's and I don't know if it ever even had a title. This truck will come with a bill of sale only. I know that a title can be acquired in South Carolina for old vehicles like this but I am not sure about other states so you will have to look into that. We recently hauled the truck to Central, SC which is where it will be sold from. The truck had been sitting for a long time when we went to pick it up but it fired up after putting a battery in it. When we got it back here we put new spark plugs in it and cleaned out the carburetor and now it runs GREAT! We drove it around the parking lot here and it shifts through all the gears, reverse works, and the clutch feels good. The emergency brake works but the brakes do not. I would not be surprised if the brakes just need to be bled but that would obviously need to be determined by the buyer. We both really want to keep the truck and leave it just like it is and make it a daily driver rat rod. This thing just looks awesome with 56 years of doing work tattooed on its body. An extra set of doors goes with the truck (as seen in the pictures). We tried to take as many pictures as possible that show all of the details of the truck. There is very little "cancer" type rust (holes). All of that is shown in the pictures. The bed is in rough shape but could be made functional with some new wood in the bed. The supports under the wood are very solid (one of them needs to be repaired or replaced). The frame is very solid and has no rot. The gas tank has been redone but is not installed in the truck. We currently have the fuel line running into a gas can in the cab to make it run. There is a fuel level sensor that is with the gas tank but I have no idea if it works. I have tried to explain everything I know about the truck but please do not hesitate to email me any questions. The buyer will be responsible for picking up the truck. It will need to be taken on a trailer seeing as the brakes do not work. I am willing to haul the truck to you within ~200 miles for the cost of renting the trailer and $0.75 per mile round trip. A $500 deposit is due within 24 hours of the auction ending and full payment must be received within 7 days or the truck will have to be re-listed.On Apr-01-13 at 12:41:31 PDT, seller added the following information:Just as an update; the fuel gauge and the oil pressure gauge work but the speedometer and the amp meter do not. The oil pressure at idle reads ~35 psi and goes up to 40-45 when you raise the engine rpm's. The engine does not burn any oil or leak.
