Vehicle Detail
1961 BMW R60/2, matching numbers engine and frame. Engine and transmission were completely gone through and rebuilt in 2010 by Bench Mark Works. Heads were totally reconstructed by Long's Custom Mechanical Services in 2008. Odometer reading is most likely not accurate, but this bike has had less than 500 miles on it since being rebuilt. (Lack of use is the reason I'm selling it.) In addition to the new mechanical parts used in the rebuild, numerous new parts added to the bike include a complete exhaust system, Dunlop tires and tubes, front shock inserts, sport handlebars, Denfeld saddle seat, Brown's side stand, luggage rack for the rear fender, throttle cables, and Hella bar end signals with a very rare and correct vintage signal switch. Fenders and tank were repainted in original black enamel and professionally pinstriped. The frame and headlight are the original paint. Frame shows signs of fading, chipping and surface rust on several areas, but is otherwise in excellent shape. Original options include Dumm sport mirrors and Weinmann aluminum rims. Sale does not include 1961 Texas license plate, though I would consider selling that separately if the winning bidder wants to use it to register the bike in Texas. Bike runs very well, but has been sitting through the winter and will need to have the carburetors cleaned and re-adjusted. Right now the idle is running too low. See this video to hear it start and run: https://vimeo.com/62748551 Bike is sold with current Texas title. No warranty or refund is offered, so please contact me with any additional questions. In-person inspections are welcome. $500 non-refundable deposit via PayPal required within 24 hours of auction ending. Balance to be paid via certified bank check within seven days of auction ending and deposit of funds must be confirmed before shipping. Winning bidder is responsible for arranging and paying for pick up and shipping, though I am happy to store the bike for up to a month provided payment is made in full by the seven-day deadline. Reserve is set at a reasonable level that will remain undisclosed until reached. I also do not wish to end the auction early. Thank you and good luck bidding.
