Vehicle Detail
This 1989 Buick LeSabre, at 31,000 miles, was produced in Flint, Michigan and only the second model year to feature the legendary "3800" V6 engine, is a true luxury vehicle. The Custom edition includes power windows, power locks, power seats, and a sound system better than anything I have owned previously. This was my grandfather's car, which I bought and was hoping to use as a primary vehicle, and fixed up accordingly. It was garage kept for around 7 years before I took it out of storage last year. Regular maintenance and checkups have been performed every 3,000 miles by a Buick mechanic. The car got an extremely thorough inspection when I bought it, and has a completely clean bill of health from my mechanic. Belts, battery, lights were all replaced. Most significantly, the brake and fuel lines - which have a tendency to rust over time on these models, because they are made of a flexible but rust-prone metal - have been completely replaced with new lines (which will not rust). This cost about $1500 when done last year. All other parts are in generally pristine condition. The car is gorgeous inside and out - see the pictures for yourself. Spacious, elegant, with ample room for friends - and their luggage. And their luggage's luggage. Seriously, this car is huge. Comparing any modern sedan to this car is like comparing an Oreo to a seven-layer cake. So why am I selling it? Mostly due to practical reasons: this car does much better being garage-kept and it's very hard to access my garage because I have roommates (who park in the driveway) and my garage door is not of the automatic variety. Since acquiring this car last September, I have pretty much kept it in my garage, driving it around the block once in a while to keep the battery from dying. I had absolutely zero problems driving it from Chicago to Columbus when I bought it, and I have no doubt that it is ready to drive another 200,000 miles or so before it's done. It's also not the most fuel-efficient vehicle in the world - while it's actually very reasonable for sedans, I have to commute daily and park in lots surrounded by college students. I honestly would feel worse about taking poor care of this car than I would about selling it, and I'm just not in a position to take care of it right now. I'm not even looking at what the "blue book" value of a car like this is, and those estimates don't even go back to cars before 1992 now. This car will legally qualify for "antique" plates in Ohio in a few years, so think of it as more of a "classic" than anything else. For a car of this quality, upkeep and condition, I consider my asking price very fair. Reasonable offers may be considered. Here is a summary of the features: - Power locks - Power windows - Power seat adjustment - Great audio with a tape deck (so mp3 players can be connected) - Automatic transmission - Cruise control - Perfectly functioning A/C - Spacious trunk with spare tire, car jack in storage box (shown) - Fuel economy: 20-24mpg (I averaged 22mpg on my trip back from Chicago with mixed highway/city driving) - Mileage: 31,011 original miles. My grandfather was a very light driver throughout his life. He bought the car new; I am the second owner. And here are a summary of the imperfections: - Minor nicks in the paint on some surfaces - Small areas of bubbling paint around the rear wheel wells. Shown in pictures.
