This is a 1991 R100, which I bought about three years ago from Southern California, with 53,000 miles on it. I drove it to Alaska from Tennessee that summer, and the tranny failed in the Yukon. I got an 83 trans through Ebay, installed it in a barn in Alberta (where it and I hitched a ride to) and since then I've ridden over 30,000 miles without a glitch. The "new" tranny is the better unit (the earlier circlip units were more reliable then the later units). I also added a Southland heavy duty clutch and this last summer did a complete top end job and refreshed the top end completely. It has a new battery, the larger unit. It has the rack and trunk from a '94, which is a great unit. The sidestand is an aftermarket unit, way better than the stock. Seat is custom, very low and comfortable. The rear cowl had cracked from the former rack (hence the newer rack) and all I did is epoxy it. Needs to be painted there, but it never bothered me. It's a great bike and the only reason I'm selling it is I'm getting too old to ride a sporty bike and ended up getting an 83 Gold Wing to meet my needs for greater comfort. Nothing matches the sound, handling, and gentle throb of these old airheads; and I truly regret having to sell it. I'm in Tennessee and will be moving North soon and must sell it before I move.
