Vehicle Detail
(Updated 7PM, Wednesday, 3-20-12). My brother has owned this for a little over 2 years and has ridden it less than a total of 5 hours. He bought it in Oregon from an older individual who said that he had it for nearly 20 years. He enjoyed it on the sand dunes of Oregon a couple of times last spring and brought it here to North Carolina last summer with the hopes of ridding it here. The problem has been that we have not had the time to take it out and enjoy it since we've been working to open our new business (he is now moving back to Oregon in order to open another store for our company). If you know anything about the Honda 250R ATC...it is a screamer! And there is no exception with this one. It is in great shape for a 28 year old 3 Wheeler. Since its a 2 stroke, it does smoke some (if you have owned one you know what I am talking about). Also, he has a spare set of sand tires mounted on rims that are included in this auction. If you "buy it now" he will include the trailer as well (in great shape, too). I will have my brother update this posting with several more pictures along with additional details before the auction closes so you can make a better decision if this is what you are looking for. Thanks! Hello! My name is Dale and I'm the owner of the above referenced 1985 Honda 250R ATC 3 Wheeler. I will do my best to give you a more thorough description (along with pictures) to help you decide if you want to bid or not. I bought this from an older man (mid 50's) in central Oregon who told me that he estimated that he owned it for at least 20 years (he believes he bought it around 1990). He had originally bought it for his son but then realized it was too much power for a young teenager. Bottom line, he decided to get his son a 4 wheeler and keep the 250R for himself and, as he put it, "putts around on the farm with it from time to time". He told me that he made a few upgrades, which I will list below, but other than that it is pretty much stock. He told me that it "never fails to start on the 2 or 3 kick...no matter how long it sits between running it". Even though I've only used it a few hours in 2 years, I can attest to that, too. Even when the gas has gotten "old" (6 months or more) it still starts and runs great. But, keep in mind, if you don't use a premium gas (93 octane) and a premium 2 cycle oil (I used Yamalube) you will not get the crazy power that you are looking for in a 250R. Also, another thing that is very typical with these machines is that they do smoke a little. You can check with a Honda mechanic and he will tell you that this is normal. After all...that's why they are often referred to as "2 Smoke Pingers". So here's some specific details: the seat and fender plastic around the seat are in very good condition (light scratches and no rips in seat). The tank and surrounding plastic is in very good condition, too. The front fender and headlight plastic have been cracked (years ago, before I bought it) and has been repaired/fixed with red matching zip ties that work great (barely even notice it). It has a Pro Link Suspension in rear, Gold Series FMF Exhaust Pipe and Silencer, Pro Design Cool Head intake. The back tires are in great condition and are Pro Wedge 501 H-Traks on ITP Alluminum rims. The front tire is mounted on the factory gold colored rim and has a Dunlop that is "okay" and probably has 1 or 2 more seasons left on it. The spare set of rear tires are for sand use only (or deep snow?) and are Sand Skate II paddles on aluminum rims...very good condition. Last year I went to the Honda dealer in Florence, Oregon and bought new Oury Grips, new clutch handle grips and brake handle grips, new K&N Filter with Outer Wears Pre-Filter (for sand or very dusty conditions). I think thats pretty much it. The bottom line...this is a very fast, very good condition, very COOL Honda 250R 3 Wheeler. I guess you could say I was going through a bit of a mid life crisis when I bought it a couple years ago and was trying to relive my college years! But, with the expenses of moving back to Oregon in a few days, there's no way that I can take it back with me. Maybe you can give it a good home? :-) Thanks for taking the time to look and happy bidding! P.S. The trailer is included with the "buy it now" price only. However, I would sell it separately and am planning on putting that in auction by itself if I don't sell them together. Thanks again.
