Vehicle Detail

This classic 1966 Triumph 650cc custom chopper is priced to move! Anything under $5k is practically a “steal” given the minimal effort required to be street ready. The VIN numbers match the motor and frame as an original T120R Bonneville. This bike was purchased new in San Francisco and chopped in 1968. Leaving this bad boy as “period correct” as possible. The bike is complete and is intact just exactly as it was when parked by the original owner in the early 80’s. The bayonet on the sissy bar is from the original owner’s tour of duty in the military. The bike has never been outside since being parked and stored over 30 years ago. It’s even still sporting the actual California license plate last tagged in 1981. The engine was last started and ran by the 2nd owner’s son (a custom motorcycle shop proprietor) in 2007. The engine still kicks over good and the compression feels normal. The gas cap was stolen while the bike sat in storage but the inside of the fuel tank looks very good with no rust. The bike’s 2nd owner (a Triumph dealer in 70s and 80s) recently passed, his son sold the bike to me with a bill of sale only. Apparently he was not able to locate the title. I'm working on an application for the new title and have assurance from Ebay that any discrepancy in title other than “clear” will result in a refund per Ebay Motor’s buyer protection plan. The seller and I butted heads unfortunately, as a result of poor communication and lack of me paying attention to the listing details. I had originally bid when the seller agreed to some basic work being completed prior to delivering the bike to SLC, UT. Bottom line is that I’m the new owner of a project that will entail a bit more work than what I had originally anticipated doing. As it sits today the bike absolutely requires: · New battery · The carbs rebuilt · A gas cap I highly recommend: · Cleaning the fuel tank · Replacing the fuel line and filter · New points · New spark plugs, · New spark plug wires · New tires front and back Depending on your labor costs the above should run between $500 and $700. I believe the cosmetics to be more valuable “as is” with the possible exception of some fresh paint for the gas tank (personally, I hate the color blue and I consider flames to be very tacky). I’m listing the bike for sale while I go through the process of shipping, acquiring a title, beginning (possibly completing) the refresh process, running and riding the bike. Please message me to get up to date details regarding where I am with things in relation to making a “best offer” or any other questions you may have. If the bike has not sold by the time I have it ready to ride I’ll most likely do the paint and re-cover the seat along with some minor cosmetic cleaning, polishing etc. I’m not confident enough to ride without the front right peg like they did in the olden days so I’ll be getting that and of course make any necessary adjustments to the throttle, brake and clutch cables. At that point the bike will be listed again at a much higher and more realistic price in line with the current NADA pricing guide (see screen shot in the images as of 02/28/2013 for a Northern UT zip code).
