Vehicle Detail
Up For Auction: 1984 Pontiac Fiero SE I have been fighting with the thought of selling this car for some time now , and now the time has come , I have put a ton of money into this car , since I bought it in 2010 , here is the list of everything I replaced to make it a safe , road worthy , gas saver. Brake Master cylender Brake ( metal lines ALL OF THEM ) Brake hoses ( All of them ) Emergency Brake Cables Calipers ( ALL OF THEM ) Rotors Pads Clutch Master Clutch Slave Clutch line ( metal ) Fuel Pump Fuel Injector Fuel Filter Air Filter Fuel Tank Cooling Fan Plugs Wires Cap Rotor Throttle Cable Alternator Battery 4 new tires with less than 13K miles on them. The Heat works great , it has AC , but it is not hooked up ( Belt is OFF ) I have the belt and the conversion kit to make it R134A , compressor is there and was turning fine , I cut the belt to replace the alternator belt and never put it back on. Power windows work great , sunroof works ( but leaks ) it is removable to open a huge hole in the top , I have 2 of the wind deflectors to keep it from buffeting when the roof is out. power mirors work , power locks work , power trunk popper works. I put a new battery in it and have a new battery box and heatshield that go with the car ( not installed ) AM/FM/CD radio works great , head rest speakers and dash speakers work great , tilt stearing works. I installed a huge electric fan , as the original was locked up , the new one is bigger and hard wired to a switch with a blue LED , I turn it on when I need it and the car runs cool , even on the hottest days of summer. the car has the GT front nose , and comes with extra parts , hood , headlight covers , tail lights , sail glass ( both sides ) marker lights ( all 4 ) , extra wind deflector , battery box , battery heat shield , belts , and some other odds and ends. The car was painted about 3 months ago , with 6 coats of "Fire Thorn Pearl" and 6 coats of F1 gloss clear , its not a perfect paint job , but it looks good from 6 feet away , and its no longer PINK like it was when I got it. ( originally the car was red , faded to pink ) I love the car , I enjoy driving the car , it gets around 26mpg , the biggest issue is this: I replaced the clutch master and clutch slave , it took 5 hours to bleed the system by myself , the new slave leaked , I replaced it ( another 5 hours to bleed ) then the master leaked , I replaced it , ( another 5 hours to bleed ) and I still have air trapped in the system somewhere , and I honestly do not feel like spending another 5 hours bleeding the clutch , I dont have 5 hours a repair... I bought the car from a repair shop that did work on it , and the owner never paid , so he gave them the title ,they gave the title to me , I have a clear MD title in my name with NO LIENS or anything on it. the Original owner bought the car new , the rubber radiator hoses leaked and the engine was toast , the dealer warented the motor and dropped a brand new crate engine in it at 40K miles , I bought the car with 65432 miles on it , it now has 76K , the engine has less than 40K on it , the transmission has 76K. ( also this car has the stainless cooling tubes front to rear ) Now...I have bled the clutch to the best of my ability for the 4th time , and I cant get enough pedal for it to shift , it needs to push 1 1/8" to engage , I can get 1" out of it , sometimes it will start in gear and not move , other times it will not , if I put somthing between the shift lever and the slave , it still pushes the same distance ( this leads me to believe it needs blead more ) as the air compresses and it doesnt push any harder , also ,I replaced the stamped steal clutch arm with the solid metal arm , My loss is your gain , I have over 5K invested in parts and repairs , but I have grown tired of 5 hour repairs ( it took 5 hours to put the alternator on ),,,in my busy life , I dont have 5 hours when somthing fails. It may or may not need a clutch disc , if it turns out it does , you can buy the kit for $50 off of ebay ( NEW ) and I found a great article on how to replace the clutch without dropping the entire cradle , and it only takes , you guessed it 5 hours , not 2 days. if it doesnt sell , I will replace the clutch myself this spring and drive the car for another few years. If you have any questions , feel free to ask , I will do my best to answer them honestly. I will consider trading this car for a W123 body mercedes of the same value 240D or 300D
