Vehicle Detail
800x600 Spider 2000 New Engine! Elegance and performance! Family heirloom! You are bidding on a very special 1979 Fiat Spider 2000. I’ve owned the car for 15 years. My ownership began with a very good Spider, which has gradually been enhanced to a great one. Even among Fiat aficionados, this is a head-turner. It won a ribbon at the Denver Automezzi in 2002 (last time I entered it). You will be paying pennies on the dollar for extensive upgrades and restorative work. Always treated with lots of TLC! Always garaged. Body: Always garaged and entirely rust-free. Stripped to the metal and resprayed in 2001 (Wheels of Time, Englewood, CO). Rare British racing green with a subtle metallic finish. Front and rear bumpers have been re-plated and the chrome is immaculate. Drivetrain: Over $5,500 spent to replace and rebuild engine this year, with less than 3,000 miles on this new motor (Aspen Motors, Englewood CO). High compression pistons, performance cams fed by a Weber 36/36 DCNFcarb fitted to an intake manifold of an 1800 Spider. Forget what you might have heard about the carbureted ‘79’s being dogs—this is one of the quickest, smoothest and powerful Spiders (of any year) you can find. Suspension: Sport springs, Koni shocks, sway bars, lowered the car about 2-3cm (Bear Frame & Axle, Denver, CO). Rides on a set of Abarth/Volumex wheels fitted with new Pirelli (P700) 195/50/15 tires. The handling is amazing, rivaling much more expensive, modern roadsters. Interior: See photos! Seats are original without any cracks or tears. All woodwork dramatically upgraded. Wood Momo steering wheel. Interior door panels all new. Dash, center consoles are new. Modern high-powered cassette deck that can be configured for mp3 players. Top: Immaculate, attractive beige. Rear window is clear without cracks, creases or hazing. Tonneau cover matches the interior and adds a classy touch. Tons of other upgrades: Ansa dual exhaust muffler, high-powered halogen headlights, passenger side rear view mirror, new luggage rack, front air-spoiler and more. If you’re a stickler for stock originality, this probably isn’t your car. But if you’re looking for a Spider 2000 that has reached its full potential as a sporty, exotic roadster, then look no further. Very minor quibbles: There are 2 small chips on the passenger door which have been touched up (can of touch up paint included)—these do not show up in the photo’s. There is also a 1/2-1" crack at the edge of the passenger side of the windshield—this has been there for 6 years, and has not grown during this time. This car is beautiful, sexy, sporty and roars like a kitten! Super sweet ride. Great gas mileage (about 30-32 mpg). It has been lovingly taken care of for over 20 years in our family. Only used for joy rides, parades and car shows. It can take long trips and has done perfectly with no problems. Only driven a few times per year. You have to drive this car to experience the fun!
