The only snow it has seen was while I was taking these pictures. She has undergone a frame off restoration over the last three years by the talented team at Urban Land Cruisers in Atlanta, GA. The goal was to renovate using the most optimal components while retaining her original classic looks. This FJ40 has been optimized for a rust free future using a state-of-the-art Aqualu aluminum tub, mated to OEM steel fenders, doors, top and hood using all stainless steel metric fasteners powered with the freshly tuned 2F motor and drive train. This FJ40 will deliver decades of reliable performance. The truck features factory power steering and the cult classic Old Man Emu suspension and has been driven less that than 1000 miles since this major renovation. The vehicle operates excellent. Motor Pop this venerable FJ's hood and you'll find an original 135 horsepower 2F six cylinder which looks and runs great! Based on General Motor's stalwart Stovebolt Six, Toyota's famous overhead valve mill has certainly proven its ability to get this compact 4x4 out of many tight situations and tow just about any moderately sized toy its owners can imagine. Here is a list of what has been done under the hood. Complete OEM Tune-Up, standard tuneup procedure with rebuilt carb, new plugs, wires, rotor, distributor cap, new ignitor. Replaced coil and belts. Replaced rear main seal. Replaced side cover gaskets and valve cover gasket. New battery Manifolds were separated, blasted and then decked Reinstalled with new bolts/studs and gasket. Body / Drivetrain / Suspension Frame off renovation. Frame blasted and two coats POR15 Aqualu tub joined and sprayed with color matched LINEX on all horizontal surfaces Painted piece by piece using PPG Toyota Freeborn Red by Circle Painting in Atlanta. New Door panels Drive train refurbished with OEM parts Old Man Emu lift kit (2"-3") with greasable pins and shackles Rebuilt front axle, Warn locking hubs and knuckles cleaned and rebuilt/serviced Rebuilt Transfer Case Stainless steel used thru out most fittings to include hydraulics All new OEM brake components front and rear New front bumper New exhaust pipe, muffler, tail pipe (6/11) Rebuilt P/S pump and box New wiper arms and blades Rear lights with rock guard protectors. FJ40 locking Dash Box New Cool Cruisers seat covers front and rear with marine grade vinyl New Japan Mfg. front & rear signals New seat belts front and rear New window cranks and door pull handles New emblems and mirrors New weatherstripping all doors and hard top New windshield, all other glass is OEM is perfect New factory correct headliner installed This old school SUV offers four wheel drive and enough ground clearance to give new meaning to the phrase 'stump jumper'. The truck's original 4-speed manual transmission sends power through a correct open rear end, which is complete with tall 3.70 gears, and a correct transfer case to serve up an awesome combination of off-roading prowess. Toyota factory steering makes driving this FJ40 effortless. Front totally refurbished front disc and rear drum brake combination will stop you right now! This Toyota's suspension, which consists of rugged solid axles and new Old Man Emu leaf springs, shackels and matching shock absorbers at both ends, has a moderate lift kit to create a raised stance and even more off road capability. At the back of the truck's frame you will find powder coated bumperettes flanking the classic Toyota rear step. Under it all you will find 15 inch steel black spokes with 31 x 10.50 BFG AT's and Warn hubs. Summary The bottom of this clean Toyota is exactly what you should expect from a recent restoration and proves that, while this Land Cruiser is exceptionally nice, it's not something you should be afraid to get dirty. Inside this iconic Land Cruiser you'll find a spacious and comfortable driving environment that has enough room to be your vehicle of choice for weekend adventures. The firm front, and folding opposing rear seat are wrapped in high quality marine vinyl covers. Heavy duty rubber floor mats in front and back. In front of the driver, a very useful locking dash box, clear gauges and controls for the truck's accessories. Between the front passengers, two simple black shifters, one for the 4-speed transmission and one for the four-wheel drive system. The space between the front seats is open to add your console of choice. Connecting the driver to the road is a factory issue steering wheel which spins around the retro "Land Cruiser" emblem. The sale of this FJ40 includes a tool kit, jack and jack rods and owners manual. There are no dents, dings or damage to the body, no rust, it's perfect. The interior is flawless as well. The color is the original Toyota Freeborn Red (paint code 309) There is a slight variation in color between the hood and the rest of the vehicle but it's inconspicuous. The 2F engine is strong and smooth and runs excellent. There is no, zip rust on this Land Cruiser. The body and frame are free of rust. The floors are all solid aluminum, rust free sealed with red Line-X, quiet and clean! This Land Cruiser is equipped with WARN free wheeling hubs. All turn signals, lights, wipers, washers, taillights, backup lights, license plate lights, side markers, instrument lighting and all gauges work perfectly. Seats covers, headliner and both interior door panels are in beautiful condition. You will note there are no headrests on the front seats but cand be added. This is a high quality FJ40. I'm unable to drive it without drawing attention, numerous waves, smiles and thumbs up! High bidder is responsible for pick up or delivery, I will assist in any way I can. This is one very cool SUV that's still every bit as functional today as it was in 1981 when it drove off the showroom floor. It's very tight, rattle free and is quite and capable. It's the kind of ride that would be right at home parked at your favorite Friday night dive next to other vintage cars, or perched on a mountain conquering your latest Saturday afternoon adventure.
