It has 65,000 original miles, its numbers matching 401 engine and Borg Warner heavy duty T-10 transmission and has had just one bare metal repaint. It is a very rare car in that it is not only 1 of 614 ‘post’ cars with a 4 speed but is also loaded with the following options: Gran Sport Package – consisting of 401 V8 with 325 horsepower, 4 speed syncromesh transmission, dual exhausts and heavy duty suspensionPower SteeringPower BrakesSonomatic AM radio with rear speakerPosi-Traction rear axle with 3.36 gear ratioAir ConditioningBackup LightsTwo Speed WipersTilt Steering WheelConvenience Group – day/night mirror, electric clock and trunk lightChrome Plated WheelsCustom Bright Exterior Moldings – wheel opening and belt reveal moldings It was originally purchased in Florida and then made its way to South Carolina after the second owner found it on a used car lot. He owned it for almost 30 years before finally relenting to the third owners many requests to sell him the car. He had the car repainted its original Flame Red and the engine compartment detailed. The late Paul Zazarine saw the car at the GS Nationals and featured it in the November 1998 issue of Muscle Car Review in an article entitled “First In Class”. I purchased the car in December 2005 but before I could take delivery Paul Zazarine wanted to feature it one more time in Muscle Car Enthusiast. That April 2006 article is entitled “Hen’s Teeth”. The car had 55,721 original miles as attested to by the title when purchased. In my ownership the matching numbers engine and transmission have been rebuilt. The engine is rebuilt to the original 10.25 to 1 specs and runs fine on high test unleaded. The close ratio (2.20 low) transmission only needed new synchronizers. It still is running its original 3922S Carter AFB that was rebuilt by Carmen Faso. The radiator has been re-cored, the air conditioning converted to R134 refrigerant, the interior has received new carpet and floor mats (the seats and door panels are the originals), the windshield was replaced with a date coded one (the rest are original) and the exhaust is a new aluminized unit with mellow mufflers. The car drives very well and has been on several long trips. In 2008 it was driven 600 miles one way to the GS Nationals in Bowling Green, KY and received a Silver Award (370 out of 400 points). Since then power front disc brakes, new one inch lift rear coils and 17” American Racing TT2’s have been added. The original suspension and brake parts go with the car and you have a choice of the 17’s or an aftermarket set of chrome road wheels with red line tires. Also added were a later model padded steering wheel, aluminum ‘BUICK’ valve covers and the under the dash tachometer and gauges. The original deluxe steering wheel is currently being refurbished and is available. This has always been a rust free vehicle and retains all its original body panels. It was undercoated when new and that remains on the car as it has never been off the frame. The bumpers are original and shine very nice but need re-chroming to really pop. The taillights are very good but the bars could use re-chroming. The hood ornament is nice and retains its color. A bit of the aluminum trim could use re-anodizing but does not really need it. The clock quit working late last year. A color sand and buff to have a few minor things taken care of is scheduled for mid March and will be included. New Legendary front and rear seat covers and front foam also go with the car. Overall this is an extremely nice original car that can be driven anywhere without worry (except for the usual old car stuff of course).
