Vehicle Detail
1957 Crown Imperial with (I believe 59,000 miles possibly 159,000) I purchased this car on E-Bay about 5 years ago in Nebraska and was real nervous about rust, but when I went to pick it up, the man who was selling it for the original owner handed me a Texas title. (Sigh of relief) But the owner has since died, (he was pretty old at the time and very sick) so I cannot verify whether the miles are 59 or 159. It really doesn't matter, my title from New Mexico says 59659 on it. The 392 four barrell motor runs excellent with no blowby, no leaks etc, I installed new mufflers (flowmasters) on it as the old ones were pretty stuffed up and restricting the breathing.. Sounds pretty good for an old Grandpas car. I had new upholstery installed per my wifes request and they did an excellent job, and you can just imagine how hard it was to do the dash. The paint was put on 5 years ago, it looks good with minimal chips etc. The tires are 900/14 Bias ply, large whitewalls, the hub caps are off of a Oldsmobile with bullet centers to make em look good ( I still have the original hubcaps). I can't tell you a whole lot about this car except it is original body, etc with no rust, (surface on the frame) I have so many other projects and am moving out of state (Alaska) and can't take them all with me. I never actually drove this car on the Highway, except for test drives and it is a darn shame to let it sit, so I will sell it or trade for something that is in the 30s to the 50s and driveable for my wife. (She deserves a nice one since she tolerates all of my hotrods). I was the one that added the Large valve covers, new carbureator, air cleaner, chrome brakes and the HEI distributor ( I sell the stuff, so I just took em oughta stock), but I have the original valve covers,.distributor, brake booster and hub caps that will go with the car. Unfortunately since the car has been sitting so long, the power steering pump is leaking out of the back of the pump, and the brakes are hard, originally I replaced the front wheel cylinders but did not replace the rears, and I believe they are bad, not leaking but not working either, I have new ones to go with the car. Some of the gauges are not working, worked before the upholsterer got the car, so they probably aren't damaged, just not working. I have been looking for a dome light lense for a long time and MIGHT have a lead on one presently, but you know how that goes. Pretty much, whatcha see is whatcha get. This car finished up is worth in the 30 thousand dollar range, I'm looking to get out of it at 20 thousand and am open to trades up or down, but like I said, it's gotta be something for my wife, (she deserves something nice) NO HORSES, BOATS, AIRPLANES, or MOTORHOMES, though, I'm getting on in age and definately don't want to deal with that kinda stuff. Feel free to call me and discuss anything on or about this car, I'm an honest person and won't steer you wrong, Heck !, my feedback kinda speaks for itself. It kinda brings back some nostalgia when I look at it, (Of course I couldn't afford one of these growing up, but I still remember them anyhoo) I can help with loading shipping etc, maybe we can even work out something to deliver it, but it must be paid for before it leaves my yard. Thanx fer lookin, Dave cell# 575-494-5119
