Vehicle Detail
I bought this beautiful 1959 Oldsmobile about a year and a half ago in hopes to bring it back like it was when it rolled off the dealership showroom. The car is in great shape and runs great! The previous owner had the car painted (basic paint) to one of the original two-tone paint schemes. The back seat upholstery is in excellent condition for its age (almost like new). The front seat has the original fabric, needs some upholstery work. A company in Oregon has the original fabric and fabric can be purchased through them if you want to be back to the original. The dash has minor cracks, but is excellent for the car’s age. The radio warms up and plays as well! Some of the trim was taken off of the car when painted, but I have the trim pieces and will be throwing them in with this sale. I also have many other items I will throw in as well. All glass is original and good - no cracks! The car has the original 371 cubic inch V8 engine and fires up fine. I have had the car garaged since I bought it. I am selling as I purchased property out of state and will not be able to take the car with me. More about the 1959 Oldsmobiles: Oldsmobile produced 383,000 vehicles in 1959 which earned them seven-percent of the American automobile market. The 1959 Oldsmobile line had been completely restyled which marked the second time in as many years. The 1959 Oldsmobile Dynamic grew in length and weight. 1959 was the last year of the big Horsepower for Oldsmobile until the muscle car era would arrive, it was also the last time Oldsmobile won the Daytona 500, with Richard Petty at the wheel of his 1959 Olds Dynamic 88 Hardtop he won by only a fender length. The 371 Cubic Inch Motor was known for it's big horsepower and even bigger torque. The Oldsmobile Dynamic 88 for 1959 had fins that started atop the front fenders and rose as they went to the back in rocket-shaped appendages. The Oldsmobile designers called it the 'Linear Look' and was an extreme departure shape from its highly chromed 1958 predecessor. This Dynamic 88 is powered by the standard 371 cubic-inch 'Rocket' V8 engine and fitted with an optional four-speed 'Jetaway' Hydra-Matic transmission and optional two-tone paint. Happy Bidding!
