Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE You are bidding on an awesome Type 1 1969 Light Blue Beetle. Every time we drive this car and we’re at a stop light, we get the thumbs-up and lots of smiles! 1969 Beetles are considered the most solid versions of the Bug ever made. I’ve actually felt safer in this car than others I’ve owned simply because it’s actually made of metal and not plastic or fiberglass. Please read the following description carefully: Of course the Bug has an air-cooled engine and manual transmission. Runs good but needs regular maintenance like all old cars. There are some small rust spots on the body (typical for an old Bug) but not serious and nothing that can’t be repaired. There is a dent in the front fender near the front bumper. No AC. Transmission is good but like any older car with a manual tranny, you have to get used to its quirks. You might want to clean the gas tank in the future to make sure the fuel lines stay clear. The gas gauge works but needs to be re-adjusted We aren’t completely sure about the mileage. But you might as well surmise that there are at least 150,000 miles on it. I think the odometer says 48,000. I don’t think ’69 Beetle odometers are even capable of recording more than 99,000 miles. ***Update*** A very kind person messaged me and advised that the odometers on these VWs go up to 99,999 and then revert to zero. If that's the case, then the car has about 148,000-149,000 miles on it. Thanks to the person who messaged me about this! I haven’t put many miles on the car; I’ve used it as a daily driver to and from work (about 14 miles round-trip per day) and for local errands, and I don’t take it on the freeway. Seats are in GREAT condition. No cracks or tears—amazing!!! In order to protect them further from sunlight, I covered the back and front seats with excellent quality Dickies seat covers. The seat belts aren’t modern, but they work. Carpeting is in good condition. Glove box is small and it locks but not very well. There is a full sized spare tire in the trunk and it’s inflated. This Bug has its original AM radio. Other than replaced engine parts, brake parts, and tires, most of the parts on this car are original. I will provide the paperwork (title, application for certificate of title, bill of sale, and repair receipts). The plates will be removed and I’ll be filing a title transfer notification to the Texas DMV. Registration sticker is good until August 2013. Inspection sticker is good until April 2013. If you purchase this vehicle I'll throw in the classic car maintenance manual How to Keep Your Volkswagen Alive, by John Muir--a manual full of cool illustrations and common-sense instructions on repairing and maintaining a vintage Bug.
