Up for consideration is a 1966 Corvette Coupe project car. This Corvette was manufactured June 28th of 1966 in the St. Louis assembly plant.It's original color was Nassau Blue with a blue vinyl interior. Prior to sandblasting, the frame had a rear sway bar that appeared to be factory installed, whichwas unique to the big block cars. I have no other documentation to support the original drivetrain combo, so this is merely conjecture.This car appeared to have been raced at some point in it's life, as the floor tub has crude patches to cover the roll bar mounting points, and the enlargedrear wheel openings also suggest racing of some kind. I purchased the car to use it as a starting point for a vintage race car, but soon after acquired a C3 Corvettewhich ultimately became the basis for my race car. In addition, this car has a clear MN salvage title from 1977. The 1966 frame has been sandblasted, and is in excellent rust free condition. It has been seam welded, and some gusseting performed per the ChevyPower Manual guidelines for Corvette race prep. The additional appendages on the frame were for a rotisserie structure during welding. The birdcageis also excellent with no signs of rust. The excellent doors are GM fiberglass, but do not contain any glass or hardware other than the OE hinges. This car would be a great starting point for either a race car, or restomod-type project.
