Vehicle Detail
I don't know where to start. This car was given to me by a local woman. There is no serial number on the car or VIN. I've tried to get paperwork from her but it just doesn't exist. This is a borderline car, it could go either way, restoration or parts car. My thinking is that it's a parts car but then I'm not familiar with Fords and Thunderbirds. She had said it was a 429, but frankly, I went to look at the VIN and then saw that it was missing. So I can't specifically tell what engine it has? It's not loaded with options, my thought is that it's not that particularly special or rare for being a T-bird. The woman is a local person, her daughter is an Olympic Athlete. She's driven by my home a number of times and saw my car collection. She fell in love with my restored Toronado. She had mentioned she had a T-Bird and wanted to know if I would be interested in buying it. Weeks later, she asked me to look at her car even though I told her I wasn't a Ford guy and knew nothing about T-birds.......Long story short, when I told her that I thought the car was too far gone to restore, she burst into tears, crying.....She's been paying to store the car for 20 years at least. Because she was crying, I said okay, I would take it and see if I could find a good home for it. The engine is stuck, none of the wheels roll, the tires are junk. She painted the car in 1988 and that paint is peeling off the roof, trunk, hood and sides of the car. There are two rust holes not that big under the front seat and passenger seat.....they are repairable. The interior is all there. There was some customizing with locating radio speakers in really a horrible place, right in the middle of the dash on the right side, it really takes away from the look of the dash.....but that being said, the seats are okay all the chrome is there in the car. The headliner is falling out. I'm selling this as a parts car and if I get enough to cover the towing charge i paid and the insert fee, I'll be turning the funds over to her. This is sold with just a bill of sale....(with no reference to any VIN) It's going to be sold simply as 1966 Ford Parts. Thanks for the interest. I'll upload more pictures. It may come with keys, I'm still waiting on them from the previous owner. On Jan-21-13 at 17:36:03 PST, seller added the following information: To be clear, Maine doesn't issue titles on vehicles this old. This will only have a bill of sale for Parts. This car was last registered in 1988 and no copies of the registration can be found. The State of Maine will not release copies of registrations and not disclose the name of the previous owner. On Jan-26-13 at 12:42:08 PST, seller added the following information: IT"S A 390! Found the small tag on the top of the engine..cleaned it off...next to the valve cover at the front.......FORD MOTOR CO. 390 In case you wanted to know.
