Vehicle Detail
1972 Pontiac GTO Grand Turismo Omolgato This is a true 1972 factory ordered GTO that was built in Fremont, California as shown by the Z in the vin number. The T in the vin number verifies that this is a 400/4 barrel GTO. This sweet 1972 comes with the build sheet to prove this Pontiac came ordered as a GTO. It clarifies that it was built at the GM Pontiac factory in Fremont California, and was originally sold from Westward Pontiac at 635 N. Seventh street in Phoenix, Arizona 85014. It is very rare to find a documented real GTO that originally came from the nice dry warm climate of the state of Arizona. This real YS block GTO ordered Pontiac was equipped with a turbo 400 automatic transmission, dual exhaust, air conditioning, power steering, power front disc brakes, 14" raised white lettered tires, deluxe wheel discs, recessed wipers, AM radio, the W62 GTO option, custom carpet, the Y88 basic group, with Y90 custom trim, tinted glass, bucket seats, full floor carpeting, roof drip moldings, the floor console, with I believe the factory brackets still intact on the console for some new lucky buyer of this real GTO to find another 8-track player, and put one back in those original mounts, plus the standard rear axle with a 3.23 axle ratio, and the L78 400/4 barrel engine option. Needless to say this real GTO has some rare options for a 41 year old car. It certainly is in need of a complete restoration. It was recently coated with marhyde primer to start the restoration process. The ram-air hood is in very good condition, and I could see no signs of this car ever being involved in any type of major accident. I believe this is a wonderful example to bring back to its former glory. The floors and trunk are very solid since this car came from such a nice dry climate. The trunk is all original and detailed with spatter spray, and has a new trunk mat with a full size spare tire, and an original jack. The frame seems to be in very nice shape as well. I have so many projects going on right now, I am running this auction at "No Reserve" to pass the sweet Pontiac along to the GTO enthusiast that finally wants a chance to get a real documented car at a reasonable price. I tried to show the best pictures I possible could to give the new owner the best views to make the most informed decision when they place their bids. With some hard work this car can be all set to enjoy for the summer car shows, and local drive in movie theaters like the good old days. Already included is a brand new tinted windshield, and the rest of the glass is still in the car. This model has dual sport mirrors and a nice set of size 225/70R15" Grand Am Radial GT's with very good tread, on a set of four Pontiac rally wheels with all four beauty trim rings, and all four center caps. The seat covers are brand new on the bucket seats, but the seats themselves will need to be reupholstered. Yes this GTO has the YS block 400 with a quadrajet 4 barrel carburator, and a turbo 400 transmission. I was debating on restoring this 72 or my 69 GTO, and decided to switch my time over to the 69. I have never fired up this engine, although the detailing has been started. I was told this YS 400 does run, but I can not verify the mileage to be original. The prior owner did say that the transmission is in good shifting condition. The Nada Classic Car Price Guide that anyone can look up on line has the true real 1972 Pontiac GTO listed at $41,375 in the highest condition, $26,375 in the average condition, and $10,187 in the lowest possible condition with these type of options. You be the judge what you are willing to pay. It is very rare to find a build sheet in one of these cars from over 40 years old, and if this car is restored properly will only continue to escalate in value. I try to list everything I can think of when I describe a car, but if there is anything you feel I may have missed, please ask as many questions as you like. They will be answered in explicit detail with the utmost honesty. This 1972 authentic Pontiac GTO will be sold to the highest winning bidder on Sunday evening. Good Luck and Happy Bidding!!On Jan-19-13 at 14:36:38 PST, seller added the following information: Just an FYI! The original quarter panels are solid with no rust. There are two front valances that will be included in the auction. One is the original that is kind of beat up, and one is in very nice condition. The ram-air inserts will also be included in the trunk. Thank you for your bids!
