Vehicle Detail
This is a pretty stunning and unique 1984 Jeep CJ-7 that I am offering for sale. The title is clear and in my name. The exterior has been repainted by a previous owner and is very close to the original factory tan color that is on the interior panels and roll bar, etc. The paint looks awesome from 10 feet back, still very impressive at 5 feet and then shows some flaws here and there when close up. There are a few areas that have been touched up. It has been painted for several years and well taken care with a high gloss shine. I would rate it a 7.5 out of 10. This is not a show jeep, but a really nice daily driver type that is also a really capable off roader. The average person would not see any flaws. The rockers and corners are aluminum that have been painted semi-gloss black to match the fiberglass top and the hood vents. I added the Renegade stickers, but it is not an original Renegade Jeep. Overall the Jeep is really spectacular looking and gets a lot of comments from people that say it is awesome. The rear lights are LED units that are amazingly visible. LED back up lights are built into them as well. This Jeep is a looker for sure. The bumpers are stock front and rear with heavy duty rock sliders that are properly welded to the frame. All are painted the same semi-gloss black. The tires are 32-11.50-15 BF Goodrich All Terrains that are almost brand new with about 3000 miles on them. The wheels are 15 X 8 Steel Directionals that are also in new condition. There is a matching spare on the back with a lock on it. The suspension is made up of stock springs with shackles that provide 2 1/2" of lift. KYB shocks combine with the stock springs to give it a really nice soft, but controlled ride. I was tempted to add aftermarket springs but have been really pleased with the current ride. The rest of the suspension and steering components are all in great shape. Steering is crisp and controlled even at highway speeds up to 80 mph. The engine is a new remanufactured long block installed by the local Chrysler Jeep dealer about 2000 miles ago in June, 2012. It has a 3 year / 36,000 mile warranty that is a real peace of mind. At the same time the dealer installed a new starter, belts, hoses, water pump, etc. Instead of the original carburation is has a Haltech fuel injection system installed by Imagine Injection in Phoenix. It comes with a dedicated Dell Lap top that allows easy changes to parameters like the idle, fuel mapping, etc. This is a really simple program that anyone can understand and adjust. The lap top comes with a nice carrying case. The engine work totaled about $5000, with the fuel injection totaling about another $4000. The factory air conditioning blows ice cold with a brand new compressor and system overhaul when the engine was replaced. The a/c system is a relatively rare option that makes is really nice and comfortable. The radiator is a replacement and the engine runs nice and cool. The top is in great shape with some minor cracking around one of the rear corner top bolts on the inside. The windows were just tinted by a local shop with 3M tint. There is a small scratched area on the inside of one of the rear side windows. There is a small rock chip in the front windshield. Otherwise the glass is in great shape. The locks all work but the handles are a little worn and could use to be replaced - just have not done it yet. The rest of the drivetrain consists of a stock 5 speed manual transmission with a Centerforce clutch. The stock transfer case was also rebuilt. The front and rear axles are stock but have front and rear ARB air lockers with an onboard ARB compressor. It has an added quick disconnect for filling up tires. The air lockers make this incredibly capable off road with the rock sliders giving it great body protection. Lockers, compressor and install was close to $3000. The interior had a stock roll bar with a front cage kit. The seats are Bestop fronts with a unique and rare rear storage/seat combination. The center console is a Tuffy unit with an Alpine deck that has Sirius XM satellite radio as well. Carpeting is in nice condition. All weatherstripping seals are intact and in nice shape. LED under dash lighting really illuminates the interior well. This Jeep is a really smooth driving nice daily driver that is very trail capable. The fuel injection makes it exceptionally smooth idling and accelerating and gives it some good fuel mileage as well. This Jeep has a lot of time and money invested in it. //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// ***Some additional information that I am compiling from questions being asked: The engine installed by the dealer has a national warranty for 3 years from the date installed, which was 6-9-12. I have the receipts for the engine, fuel injection, brake work, cooling system and various other work done. Again - the engine runs really nice and strong. The rear end has a one piece axle kit. The fuel tank has a super beefy 1/4" full skid plate under it.
