Vehicle Detail

Check out this beautiful '69 Chevelle SS 396. I am listing this car for my friend who is not set up to sell on eBay. Up for sale is a beautiful Garnet Red '69 Chevelle SS 396 4-speed car with a 12 bolt posi and 3:42 gears. My buddy purchased this car from a gentleman who had owned it since 1974. My friend is only the 3rd owner. The car has been garage kept since it was brand new. The previous owner was a car guy and knew the value of storing a car correctly. There is NO rust on this car. All the body panels are original GM. The body is incredibly straight and the paint shines beautifully. Those who know the Chevelle SS know that after 1968 the only true way to document an SS Chevelle is with the original build sheet. That build sheet would be placed at various locations throughout the car. My buddy has not found the build sheet. He is 100% certain that this is a factory built 69 Chevelle SS. However he doesn't want to go tearing the car apart since it's so original. As stated this car has been garage kept since 1974. The fenders, trunk, hood and floors are all original GM and in excellent condition. You can still see the original GM stampings along the tops of the quarters where they meet the trunk. The trunk is completely rust-free and you can see that the original quarters go all the way down with no modifications at all. The car was repainted at one point in time and at that time the original GM SS 396 emblems were removed and then reinstalled. So, the emblems on the car right now are the original GM emblems, not the cheap Chinese aftermarket ones available at many parts houses today. Everything else is also original GM from the bumpers to the grill toall the various trim on the car. There are no repro parts installed on this car. When the car was repainted it was repainted in the original paint style of laquer. Anybody who knows about laquer paint knows that one of its flaws was that it would tend to "check." This car has a few VERY minor sections where the paint has begun to "check" but it absolutely does NOT need to be repainted. As you know, one of the benefits of a laquer paint job was how the car would shine. This car shines absolutely beautifully. The body is perfectly straight. As stated the 2nd owner of this car purchased it in 1974 and garage kept it for years. The car is very well preserved and has had no previous body work. I've taken detailed pictures of the trunk and inner 1/4's to show that they are original GM and not modified in any way. This car is not numbers matching. The motor is a 1966 396 that was completely rebuilt in the fall of 2009. The motor was bored .030 over and the entire bottom end was rebuilt using forged pistons. The motor has 10.5:1 compression. The 100 cc's cylinder heads were completely rebuilt. When they were rebuilt, brand new stainless intake and exhaust valves were installed along a 3 angle valve job and also with bronze valve guides were installed. The valve sizes are as follows: intake 2.065; exhaust is 1.720. The cam is from Comp Cams. Part number on the cam is 11-246-3. It is a hydraulic cam with 555 lift and 286 duration. If you need to know any more details on the cam, just check Comp's website. The intake is an Edelbrock aluminum # TM2R along with a rebuilt Holley 850 double pumper carb. When the motor was rebuilt my buddy purchased and installed a 2" cog belt system from a company called Black Mountain Precision. The 2" cog belt drives the alternator and water pump and comes with all custom aluminum pulleys and brackets. The ignition system consists of an MSD 6A unit along with an MSD Blaster coil which shoots power to a Mallory electronic distributor. My buddy has saved every single receipt for all the parts and work done to this motor. He has receipts totalling just over $4000.00 worth of work in the motor. Estimates put this motor in the 450HP range. All of the burnt fuel exits the car through a set of Hooker headers into a complete Flowmaster 3" exhaust system which was custom installed and welded throughout. There are no cheapy clamps to rust out. The system is 3" all the way from the headers to the rear of the car and also comes with a balance tube and Flowmaster 40 series mufflers. Trust me this car sounds NASTY. When the motor was ready to be installed he installed a brand new flywheel, along with a brand new heavy duty clutch. This transfers power back to a Muncie M-20 trans which is controlled by a rebuilt Mr Gasket Vertigate shifter. The Vertigate shifter is a custom racing 4 speed shifter. There is no "throw" going from 2nd to 3rd gear. The shifter just goes straight up and down. Power is sent through the trans to a custom built 12bolt posi. The entire rear was rebuilt in April of 2011. It has a brand new Eaton posi unit along with 3:42 gears. At the time all new bearing were installed along with a set of heavy duty Moser axles. When the rear was installed is was set up with a custom brace kit along with a set of old school ladder bars. Again, my friend has receipts totalling just over $3000.00 spent on the rear axle assembly. The entire suspension has been recently rebuilt. He installed all brand new shocks, coils, upper and lower ball joints, and bushings. The entire kit came from PST suspension and all the bushings are polygraphite. The car has power disc brakes in the front and drum brakes in the rear. The wheels and tires are also new. The wheel set up is a set of Weld Drag Stars. The fronts are 15X5 and the rears are 15X 10. The rear tires are a set of brand new Mickey Thompson Sportsman Pro's and measure 28x10.5-15". The interior of the car is extremely clean. This car has a real nice white interior with a black carpet. Trust me the white gut along with the Garnett Red paint looks fantastic. The black dash and black carpet set everything off nicely. My buddy has installed a nice set of aftermarket Autometer gauges to monitor all the engine functions along with a nice big Autometer Tach to monitor RPM's. Other than a brand new aftermarket Grant steering wheel, the rest of the interior is bone stock. My buddy did save the factory GM steering wheel and that will be included with the sale of the car. The factory GM AM radio is still in the dash and to be honest I'm not sure if it works. But when your car sounds this nasty, who really cares about AM radio! Everything else works as it should. Lights, wipers, heat/defrost are all in excellent working order. If you like a nicely modified big block Chevelle SS, this is the car to have. I have been to many car shows and cruise nights with my friend and this car gets TONS of attention. The bright red paint, the nasty exhaust, the stance, ect...just screams WOW!! This car has been babied and cared for it's entire life. It's rust free, and just had well over $8-$10,000 worth of performance and suspension upgrades installed within the last 2-3 years. This is a turn key and cruise car. You take this car to your local cruise night and know that you've got the hottest car there. I have taken MANY detailed pictures of the car but ebay only allows 25 pics. Please feel free to contact me with any and all extra picture requests. I will forward you my buddy's personal email address so he can respond directly to any questions. I also have a 5 minute video of the car that I am posting here for you to view: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SXniLRADJQU&feature=youtu.be If you know big block Chevelles, you know that it doesn't get much better than a red big block 69 with a 4 speed. This is a car you simply purchase, wash, and enjoy! The car is for sale ONLY because my friend found a gentleman who is interested in selling a 70 Nova SS pro-touring car with a 572 big block and a 6 speed Tremec trans, otherwise this car would be his forever. Good luck bidding and please feel free to ask any additional questions.
