1997 Mazda Protégé LX 4 door sedan I bought this car from a retired couple for my son to commute to community college. This has been a very reliable car and would be a good commuter car for anyone wanting a reasonable car which is easy on gas. It has a 1.5 liter double overhead cam engine yielding 36-38 mpg on the highway. Known problems: there are a few dents on the car, but this is a 1997 vehicle, so you can’t expect “like new”. There is some cracking on driver’s side arm rest. There is a small rock ding near the bottom of the windshield center section. See pics. Good news: All systems work: AC, electric windows, power door locks, trunk/hood release, gauges, turn signals, wipers, headlights/tailights. Automatic transmission shifts as it should. Seats in very good condition, no rips. Tires have even wear. Alloy wheels. Oil/filter changes every 3-5K miles. No leaks(garage floor stays clean!). Engine is quiet. 'Both front axles have been replaced in past two years. This is a no rust southern car(see pics of undercarriage). Low miles for the year, 127700 miles. The Mazda Protégé has a very good reputation for being a durable car. Clear title, buyer responsible for pickup, I can pick you up from RDU airport if you fly in.
