This 1972 Mercedes 350SL hardtop convertible was donated to the California Automobile Mueseum and is now up for sale.
Exterior
the Exterior of this Mercedes is in real good shape. The paint still shines well and by the receipts that come with the vehicle is looks to have been painted in 1996. The chrome on the vehicle is nice and has a good shine to it. All of the lenses, front and back are intact and are not cracked. The removeable hardtop is in good shape. The soft convertible top however is in need of a good cleaning or perhaps being replaced, the plastic windows are faded and cloudy. There is a bit of rust starting to show on the trunk behind the 350SL badge.
Interior
The interior of this vehicle is in decent shape. The leather seats are complete but are worn and have some small cracks and tears. The headrests on both seats do not lock into place like they should and only stay in the down position. The drivers side door pull is missing. The carpeting on the drivers side is missing but does have the rubber floor mats. The floor on the drivers side has some rust spots that you can see through but the passenger side seems solid. The inside of the trunk has the same problem, rust on the left side of the trunk and it has some holes, but the area where the spare tire is is solid. The seat belt on the drivers side will not retract but it could just be a stuck mechanism.

Mechanically this vehicle runs and drives good. It starts right up and does not smoke. The transmission shifts through all the gears as it should. The electrical all seems to work fine, although the turn signal switch will not hold in the up or down position when trying to turn on the signals but they do work. The tires have a decent amount of tread left on them.

This Mercedes could be a nice little coupe with a little TLC. It does have some rust issues in the drivers floor and also in the trunk but seems solid in the rest of the vehicle.
