Vehicle Detail
1963 VW TRANSPORTER Ellen is a 1963 Transporter Bus that has been equipped with a very nice Dual Port 1600cc VW engine. She starts instantly and has smooth, robust power through the 4 speeds. All ignition parts have been renewed and the valves adjusted to ensure great performance. She is a happy butter and cream color that seems to say "please love me" to every lucky passerby. The brake master cylinder has recently been replaced, along with the rear brake shoes. The starter and alternator were renewed within the last year. The rear bench seat has been rebuilt with new wood. Carpet has been added to the front passenger area as well as the rear cargo area. The entire floor is carpeted, with the exception of the wood paneled area. A CD Player has been installed and 6 speakers provide excellent entertainment for the Flower Power collection that I couldn't live without. The floors are solid from front to back and any surface rust which was found was removed with the help of phosphoric acid rust treatment. Safari Windows are a great addition to the front windshield. Although not pictured, the front windscreen wipers are included. The tires are not new, but they do a good job of keeping the air inside from getting out. I did not plan to part with this wonderful Bus. Kids of all ages love to see her. I remember as a young man, the Hippie Buses of the Vietnam War peace movements. Small children scream out something about "Scooby Do" when they see the Bus. I have no idea what they are talking about. But, circumstances dictate that I must move the inventory. (Can't threaten to leave because the wife has a trust fund and I don't. LOL) I do not know the age of the 1600cc transplanted engine, nor the mileage on the engine as it was in the Bus when I bought it a couple of years ago. I would guess that I have driven the Bus less than 1,500 miles. She runs vibrantly with no trouble and does not leave oil on the driveway. And, I have not had any trouble with the gearbox either. Just a wonderful 63 Volkswagen Transporter Bus.
