Vehicle Detail
This rare, early 80's muscle car is a true survivor. This vehicle is not a barn find but a fully functional, totally roadworthy car. It's former elderly owner had driven it just 3,000 miles since 2009. Originally purchased in South Dakota, it has spent recent years in the high and dry desert of southern Colorado. This rare Mustang is equipped with a 5.0 liter engine and 5 speed transmission. It also has a Tilt Wheel, Cruise Control, Air Conditioning, Power Door Locks, Power Disc Brakes, Power Steering, Power Trunk Release, Interval Windshield Wipers, Console, Manual Windows, Tinted Glass, Remote Mirrors, Digital Clock, AM-FM Stereo Radio with the Premium Sound System, Wire Wheel Covers, Front and Rear Sway bars and a 3.08 Traction-Lok Rear Axle. With the exception of the recently installed Edelbrock street performer carburetor, it is totally original, unmolested and unrestored. The original Holley carburetor is available and included in the sale. This car has no known mechanical issues. It's 5.0 liter engine starts instantly and runs smoothly with no smoke. The engine has what appears to be a minor oil leak at the front and rear main. It does leave a small spot on the floor occasionally about the size of a quarter. The 5 speed transmission shifts smoothly with no unusual noises or quirks. The clutch is strong and engages positively with no signs of slippage. The brakes are in excellent condition and easily hauls the car down from highway speeds. The tires look to be mid to late 90's vintage. They have good tread remaining but are checking and showing obvious signs of dry rotting. The single exhaust is rusted and needs to be replace from the cat back. It really deserves a dual exhaust system to enhance your driving experience and fully appreciate the spirited drive train. This car runs very well and the suspension and steering feel tight like you'd expect in a vehicle with this low mileage. The original power top works well, has no holes and is still serviceable but is showing its age around the rear glass window and on the side welting above the windows. All the glass is in good condition. All sheet metal panels are straight, appear to be original and have no hail or collision damage. The car has had at least one repaint of average quality but looks good from 20 feet. It has a few chips and nicks in the paint, some of which have been touched up. As you might expect, given the car's history, the undercarriage is in excellent condition. There is mild surface rust on the differential and rear suspension. Otherwise, the rockers, floor pan, trunk and frame rails are all rust free and still showing original paint. Because the car was, and still is, kept covered and in a garage, the interior is in very good condition. Sun damage is almost none existent. The dash and all vinyl panels are in excellent condition with no fading or cracking. The vinyl seats are in very good condition with the exception of the seam in the driver’s seat. The carpet is also in very good condition with no damage, stains or fading. All gauges and accessories work properly with the exception of the air conditioning which needs a recharge. The AC system was converted to R134 several years ago. As of 12/19/2012, NADA Guides values this vehicle as follows: High Retail $9,449; Average Retail $7,769 Low Retail $5,493 This vehicle has a clean AutoCheck Report showing No Accidents, No Title Problems, No Odometer Discrepancies and No Additional Vehicle Uses. Also included in the sale is the original owners manual and operating guide, a Haynes Service Manual and a Deluxe Marti Report showing Door Data Plate Information, Original Equipment List, Important Construction and Sale Dates and Statistics.
