1967 Volkswagen Deluxe Bus Model 251 - Deluxe Walkthrough Production Date: August 9, 1966 I am the third owner and have owned it for 15 years. This is not a restored, show condition bus. Bus is very complete and has original, not reproduction parts. The only thing I know it is missing is 3 of the wheel beauty rings. The bus was painted (exterior only) by the previous owner. It is a very solid and mostly rust free bus that is original to Colorado. It is a very early 1967 model and does not have reverse lights like later ones. - Paint is in it's original colors of Velvet Green and Pearl White. Previous Owner (PO) had the bus painted in the 80's or possibly early 90's. He then used the bus as a daily driver for a number of years. The paint, particularly on the passenger side, has a number of scratches and chips...just normal use, parking lot stuff, nothing major. - Seats are Grey Vinyl with white piping (also from the 80's/early 90's). Seats are correct and original including the1967 short middle seat. - Original Middle and Rear Seat Kick Panels are present. - Interior panels are original VW panels in fair condition. They are mostly the original Platinum/Platinum Mesh panels that came on the bus, however, two panels are not. The long panel in the back and the panel to the right of the 3rd row of seats are grey and from an earlier deluxe bus. I do have, and will include, the original Platinum/Platinum Mesh long panel but it is not in as good of condition as the panel that is currently in the bus. - Shelf under the dash has the original Platinum vinyl. - Safari Windows are original VW, not aftermarket, but not original to this bus. They were added by the PO. I believe they are older since the glass has the larger VW/Sigla logo. Even the 'one-eyed duck' that holds the wipers is an original, not reproduction. - Has original VW factory deluxe sunroof with roof windows. Skylight windows and all other glass on the bus, other than the Safari's, is correct and original VW/Sekurit. The bus was presented as an all original bus when I purchased it in 1997 but it does not have the belly pans underneath the cargo area so it is possible that the roof is not original to this bus and was added by the PO. - Roof / Sunroof Headliners were redone by PO and are in very good condition. - Deluxe Clock is original and working. - Electrical system is all in good working condition. Front parking lights, headlights (high and low beam) and turn signals work. Windshield wipers work. Rear brake lights and turns signals work. Rear license plate light works. Dash lights (fuel gauge, speedo and clock) all work and dimmer control works. Emergency flashers work. Overhead front and rear lights work as well. - All original Deluxe exterior trim is present and in good condition. - Jailbars and luggage bars are all original and complete. - The original brown floor mats, seat stand mats, walkthrough ramp mat are all present and in good condition. - Tires are original style BF Goodrich Silvertown whitewalls from Coker Tire and have ~ 100 miles on them. - It has a full set of original seatbelts. - All windows are original glass, are in good working condition, and all have their original latches. - The interior lights are working and have the original lenses. The exterior lights are also all working and original including the lenses. - Rear hatch hinges have the original hinge covers. - The engine currently in the bus is a longblock that I bought from MOFOCO in Milwaukee, WI. It is a single port like the original and has less than 1,000 miles on it. I have the original engine in a crate and it will be included in the sale. It was running well when pulled and I checked it 12/4/12 and it still spins freely. - I have a 1987 letter that the PO obtained from VW listing the production date (August 9th, 1966), color codes and engine number. - The transmission is the original with reduction gear boxes. It works and shifts fine. Clutch was replaced when engine was installed. - Brake lines, cylinders and shoes were relpaced during my ownership. And also the shocks. - I have put under 1,000 miles on the bus in the last 15 years, it is ready for someone who will use it more. It runs and drives well. - Total mileage on the bus is unknown. The speedo in the bus when I bought it was not original (date stamp was older). I installed the current speedo which is in better condition. - I have the original Owner's Manual and it will be included. Please note that in the pictures of the underside, the PO had an undercoating put on the bus to protect it from rust. In the pictures the color looks strange due to the undercoating but the coating seems to have done its job. And also the undercoating is probably 25 yearsold and peeling off in places. It is not rust just the peeling undercoating. Serious parties, please contact me for a more comprehensive set of pictures. Including exterior, interior, floors, underside and original engine.
